    Hi all,
Today I finally got back my tank from the workshop freshly resprayed. I had given a brand new bottle of tank cure rust remover to the repair guy to use before or after respraying to clean up the inside a bit (it wasn't really too bad at all). The shop owner gave me the tank and the rest of the rust remover in a cola bottle. I hady doubts he had used it at all as the little bit of rust I could see from the filler hole was still there so I decided before putting the tank back on I would use the tank cure and try to clean it better which worked fine however I no longer had the instructions and only gave the tank a quick rinse with fuel I had left in a jerry can. Now I have half filled the tank with fresh fuel but it's running smoothly and I'm afraid I may have got the rust remover in the system. Has anyone had any experience with this happening to them and know what I should do? Will it just sort itself out or should I take it immediately to have the carbs strapped (which I have just recently had done at much expense).

Put one or two fuel filter in line from the tank to the carbs. I rinse my tanks with hose from my well. I have a white cloth I put down to judge how well the tank is free from bits or cleaner. Tank prep and cleaning takes much longer then most people think.

You are right to worry about the carbs getting messed up from liquid and bits left in the tank. Make sure you are satisfied with the tank cleaning before you put it back on the bike. No matter how well you do on the tank, I would run a fuel filter in line to the carbs just in case.

Most rust removers are acids. Not knowing anything about that particular product I'd recommend draining the tank, and using the drained fuel in a lawnmower.
