1985 xj700 air with 2002 Honda foreman 450 swing arm. Originally made it for 1000 ft speed runs on Ice, 1st year 80mph so far. It is fun on street, my town allows ATV on street. Pinions are on opposite sides, had to flip diff up side down. Bike had no title and been layed down. Looking for info on possible Tach options, shift light, Rev limiter.

upload_2025-4-9_23-52-25.jpeg This is by far my favorite toy. 125 mph in 1000ft on ice. Ive pretty much scared everybody away with it tho. Thats why I built the XJ.

lol I have not riden a new sled but im sure they are not far behind. The fastest STOCK snowmobile as of 2022 NSSR is a 1000cc 1998 thundercat at 120 1000ft. Its a 1984 Honda 200es frame. It started with a 440 liquid Rotax , then 583 then 670 then current 950 PSI. PSI says it is capable of 197 hp. The compression can be changed by turning a nut on top of the engine and it is mild right now. There is more speed in it. But someone will have to go 120 before I go for it.

Found a pretty cool tach for the xj700 wheeler. Dyno Racing 80mm, 11000 rpm, 1 to 8 cylinders, Shift light, has high RPM memory. 40 bucks Amazon.

The Tach works good, shift light comes on at 7500. Has anybody ever installed a "Quick shifter" or Air Shifter on xj700?

If it's registered as a XJ700 then it's still a motorcycle, and not an ATV. You can run it on public streets anywhere in the U.S. (but not with the spikes).
It's only when a vehicle has 4 wheels that is stops being a motorcycle in the U.S.
That it has a 2T motor doesn't change that, because of the year of manufacture of the frame.

Not finding much on Air or Quick shift. Quick shifters seems like they need a controller capable electrical system. Plan B is to reverse shift lever, to upshift while pushing down on shifter. I did get 1 good idea tho, the guy said he put on a rev limiter and shifted when it hit that.
