    hi,
i just got a 82 750 maxim running for the first time in 2 yrs today.....and there's 2 feet of snow on the ground. i had to replace carb number 4 due to a broken piece inside. didnt think i was going to get her running, but i did. and now it runs, but wont idle. if i dont give it gas, it dies. also it "coughs" and "sputters" a lot. Guess i still have some work to do while the snow melts. I still have to change the oil too, i'm sure its pretty dirty.

My first bike was an 82 honda cb750 which almost seems to be my xj750's twin sister or something. then i had a yamaha r6, then a suzuki hayabusa gsx1300r,( which was stolen in '06) and now, obviously my xj750 maxim. i haven't ridden since my busa got stolen 2 years ago, so i am definitely excited to get 2 wheels on the road again.

The only other thing i have changed on my bike was putting some clubmans on, which look sweet by the way. I look forward to being on this site a lot in the future. ~ZW

Welcome aboard! We can sure help with carb matters. Sounds like the carb need a good colortune. Don't forget about the search function, it can produce answers quickly without waiting for us to get to a pc.

Probably need to Sync the carbs as well since you pulled #4 from the rack.
