What is CNYCC#19?

 

@Zoot_Suit, That would be the Central New York Carburetor Clinic #19 held at @hogfiddles place near Utica, New York. A mostly annual gathering of XJ enthusiasts from a fair portion of the northeast US. Generally a thunderstorm blows through (but not always) during a day of tuning, tweaking and modifying various XJ's. Always lots of fun (even with the thunderstorms) with a nice ride after the bikes are reassembled. The snowy photo above is Hogfiddles yard where the event happens.

 

Oh, that sounds awesome! I can't say for now, but I'll see if I can make it.

 

You can do a forum search for CNYCC and you can read back through many of them to get a pretty good idea jf what we do.

 

Carmine, I was going to ask how you got a picture of all those bikes but, then I looked closer.

 

Yeah, just some quick Photoshop. But yes, the two are both mine. I brought both in 2018!

That's a 6 hour drive from me, and I don't think I'll have the bike ready by then, so maybe next year! Would be really exciting

 

I trailer my 700 to this event every year as I’m about 6 hours away as well. Worth it… there’s value in being with other XJers for the day.

 

Ok, we’re just over about a month and a half away!
It’s time to kick planning into high-gear.

If you’re planning on attending, start letting me know what you want to have checked, worked on looked at, or just want to learn about something, etc……, so I can start matching up who works with who,etc….. so we can have a really good and efficient weekend again!!!

I am planning on being there. My plan of action is to avoid drooling too much on @Simmy's Naked Turbo if we can convince him to come and bring it. I think it would make an amazing picture parked next to your line of XJ900's.

The Canadian Vintage Rally is the weekend after, I have to be ready for that.

Aswww, now I am really disappointed. Still going though. At least @Simmy does not have polish my slobber off the Naked Turbo.

Less than a week away! I just finished putting up the main tent—- we will have a slightly different look this year. We’re under one cover! I got a great deal on a 20x30 along with a gas powered spike driver!

 

Sorry to post so close to the event but my schedule has unexpectedly cleared up. So if an extra set of hands and tools would be of help I'd love an excuse to take a few days of vacation and road trip up.

 

@Will@CCC, I am sure @hogfiddles will be along shortly to say "Come on Down". Where are you coming from? Lots of room for more XJ's and we will be happy to see you. Again speaking for Dave, he has camping space and there are motels/hotels that can be available I expect.

 

At least one 'regular' isn't coming this year. Come, the more the merrier.

I’ll be trailering my XJ from the north east corner of Pa. Though to be honest it’s just so I have the ability to to bring some shop toys I could never fit on the bike.

The cornerstones of any healthy diet!

 

Just sitting around the campfire, shooting the breeze, waiting for will@CCC to arrive around midnight.

 

Since this morning was still early, and I had already planned to go and try to catch the BigBoy as it rolled through NY, Huntchuks (Dan) went with me down to the Owego area. My son and his wife had a spot picked out for all of us—-then a neighboring family down there invited us to come over to their lawn for an even better view—- right “up Front”. Here’s the view we got

 

Man, lucky you (both of you)! Wish it was coming thru down South, but alas, it's not.

Steam engines were among the last great industrial machines that regular people could understand, as all the moving parts were on the outside and visible.

I remember back in the mid-60's --- when I was a bit younger --- my father and I would go down to the local train station to pick up Mom every day after work (the above-ground subway ran besides the main lines for freight trains). By that time, although well into the age of locomotive electrification, every once in a while (maybe 1-2 times a week) a freight would come by headed by a steam engine. Loud and exciting and you sure could feel the power.

By the way, for those interested, here is an absolutely great video of how a steam engine operates:



It actually "dissects" a UP Big Boy digitally, in great detail. The articulating frames and their operation are especially interesting.

The guy that makes these "animigraff" videos is unbelievably talented. Check out his videos on building the Hoover Dam or the Golden Gate bridge......incredible.

 

Will@CCC arrived at 11:45pm, just before we all turn into pumpkins. It’s gonna be a good weekend, the sky is crystal clear, and the call is for beautiful weather.
