Not a good day...need your help.

Hey everyone, I hope your day was better then mine.
I decided to call around to get my glass fixed on my instrument cluster and the place I called said I could bring it in but they close in 30min, so I jumped on my bike and was on my way. I was almost there when I went over a bump and my auxiliary light poped off and fell to the road(I forgot to put the screw back in). I quickly pulled over and ran to get it out of the road but some one ran over the frame. When I was going back to my bike my bike fell over! Now this is where I need your help. The parts I now need are:
Rear tail light cover. Clutch lever. Clutch pedal(mine bent). Auxiliary light frame.

Where can I find these parts for cheap?

Oh and I never made it to get my instrument cluster glass fixed either because my bike wouldn't start for awhile, then I has to get some adhesive to fix the clutch lever until I get a new one, and then I was just to pissed so I went home and here I am.

 

Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed...

Sorry to hear about your woes.

Clutch levers are pretty universal. You can buy one for about what the adhesive you're considering would cost.

Clutch pedal? I don't have one, but I'll bet it could be straightened.

The trim ring and light bezel will either be big $$$ from the dealer (if available) or you'll have to find used. Maybe someone here has them, or eBay.

 

UPDATE

Alright after some more investigation I have some updates. I was able to bend the aux. light frame back to where it works so unless I can find one for really cheap I will probably just use mine thats just a little bent. Second I think that the shift lever is supposed to be somewhat bent (is this correct). I do still need to get the clutch lever, is $20 an okay deal? And as for the rear signals...I have seen some on ebay that are aftermarker from jagmotorcycle, it comes in a set of four for front and rear but it doesn't look like it would fit the front...can you guys check it out and let me know if it would work for my bike?

I have those signals on my '82 Seca 650. They will mount but you will have to remove the complete stock signal assembly. In the rear, you will also have to lengthen the stock wiring to reach. They do look really nice on my bike, haven't installed the rears yet, but the fronts really clean up the lines . cruzerjd

okay so they do fit the front of your bike?? is this true for the 750s too? i looked at the front signals on my bike and it looks like the screw goes in verticle to the signals while the ebay ones are horizontal...was this true for your bike also? thanks for the help fellas.

I think I can help you out on some of the items you'll need:


HCP2679 OEM clutch LEVER, correct low glass black finish, brand new:
$ 19.00

HCP2679GCU OEM clutch LEVER, good used condition, not bend, but most
of the black has flaked off:

HCP2665 Aftermarket clutch LEVER, shiny black finish, brand new:
$ 17.00


HCP2045VGU OEM rear TURN SIGNAL UNIT, housing with lense (stalk not included but available separate if needed), very good used condition, with the lead wires. NOTE: you need to specify left or right side, the lighs are identical but the color of the wire leads differs from side to side.
$ 24.95


NOTE: just be aware that the lights on that eBay auction are aftermarket light signals and are TINY. And yes, you'll have a difficult time mounting them in the front.

Also, I looked at a used 750 Seca clutch lever that I have here, and it too is "bent" inwards, towards the cover. Although it showed no indication of damage, my first thought was that it had gotten bent somehow. But judging from your comment, that may be the way they are made (I only have one here, so no others to compare to).

Well I just ordered a new cover for my signal so that is taken care of. I found a clutch lever for sale for $15 and $5 shipping so I think I am going to pick that up. Looks like I almost got everything I need to get my bike back good. Has anyone ordered those handle bar grips off ebay? They have the plain black for $10 then they have the black and chrome for $20 which look pretty cool. Just wondering how they look/ install on the seca in real life. Thanks for the help people.

 

On my 650 i had to replace eerything, the signal, shaft, everything, the new signal bolted in the hole the old signal stock was in, so it is noa lot closer to the headlight and center of the forks. there is a rubber damper aat the mounting point that needs to be retained, it has a square hole in the center that the new signals will be mounted over. All in all it looked good, i just can't get my pics small enough to post, even with Gimp. cruzerjd

What an incredibly crappy 30 minutes! As others have already said, glad you're okay because lady luck must have been on her coffee break when you went for your ride.

 

Just words of advice.

If you have to be some where in 1 hour on a bike, leave 2 hours ahead.
If not possible...take the cage.

Rushing on a bike is not a good idea for numerous reasons. Even rushing to get her on the road is the same principal.

 

I don't trust my yamaha dealer much but when my kid dropped my maxim last fall I needed a clutch lever fast and he only charged me 12 bucks. :?

 

Do you still need a rear tail light cover or anything? I might have one you can have, but I have to double check. Might also have the glass for the instrument panel as well. Have to double check that too. I take it you already got the turn signal thing fixed? If you want to pm me with what you still need, I will check and let you know exactly what I've got.

 

I have the complete tail section off of an '82 Seca 750 with the tail light intact in perfect condition if you still need one. Also I have an auxilary light in good condition if you want to replace you bent up one.
Other parts I have off of a, '82 Seca 750:
*Speedometer/tachometer in good shape (everything works)- $50
*Handlebars (stock adjustable ones) -$25
*Headlight (square one complete with bulb) -$35
*Left side cover -$20
*Fuel tank in good shape (no gas cap or sending unit) (black) -$50

Also, I have an '82 Maxim engine (no carbs or starter, less than 20,000 miles on it) still in the bike frame. Both frame and engine for $100 pickup only in Central Minnesota. PD
