I still have my 83 XJ900RK, but yesterday I came across a 79 Honda CB750F Super Sport with 25K on it for 900 bones. So I bought it.

Did I do OK? I've heard they are very collectable.

Depending on condition it sounds like a GREAT deal.

Is that a Single cam or Dual Cam. Price sounds good.

I have a 78 750F2 SOHC, A little tall to me after riding the Maxium and Ninja but it is fun.

It's a DOHC, the 1979 was the first year. It has the little ducktail flip above the brakelight. It's plenty dirty, and needs tires, but it looks like it will clean up OK.

'79's had a few probs, soft cam lobes, electrical issues and such, but for $900 right now that is a great deal. Check for pitting of the lobes and like our XJ's, a decent fusebox and a close eye on electricals will keep you on the road. I would buy one in a heartbeat, but around here they are few and far between at that price. cruzerjd

mmmmm..... i like it.... bikes just don't have as much character now-a-days... or maybe they just don't seem that way til they're older...

I like that style. There are only a few new bikes I really like and they are all only available in Europe. XJR 1300, Suzuki GSX 1400 FE and Honda CB 1300. If I ever buy a new bike I guess I'll have to make a trip overseas or find an old jewel like you did.

That's a spectacular deal, the CB-F bikes have a good following and that one is in nice condition. My bother has a '79 750 which he has since swapped out the 900F engine. I have also ridden a 900F with a 1100F engine, that was very nice! Being a taller rider (6'3") I find the CB-F has more room then my Seca 750. Check out www.cb1100F.net if you want a good message board for it.

Thanks for the reply's, I feel like a traitor. I just sold my XJ900 to a guy in California, so I'm going to fix and ride the CBF.

I rode it the other day before I tore it down and yes, I'm hooked. I can't really describe it, but it felt like a bike should. In fact it reminded me a lot of my 83 Seca 550, only faster. I pulled all the paintable parts.
