    Aloha,
I had a question regarding handlebars. I have an 81 XJ650. I greatly dislike the buffalo handlebars that are on there now. I have been looking around for some time trying to find new bars without having to cough up an arm or a leg to get them, and have come across what-theoretically- seems like a good deal.
My question is this: I have located some handlebars pretty cheap. The thing is that they are 1" Harley bars. I know that the bars on there now are 7/8". My question is regarding the controls and the like on the handlebars. I know I would need new grips and throttle setup, but is there enough spring in the controls to accept a 1" bar? Or would I- as I suspect- need to get all new ones? Also, would there be a problem mounting these as well? I assume that I'd have to replace the controls, grips, throttle assembly, possibly cables, and with the degree of trouble I can expect mounting them, the good deal would be not that great. Just looking to pick your brains.
    Thanks
    Marko

Save yourself a lot of work and headaches. Buy a 7/8" bar.

I figured they would be more headhache than they were worth, thanks guys. And with the Mikesxs link, I solved my "shifter lever is too close to the peg" problem too.

I have a set of flat bars that I would be willing to trade for a set of stock bars. The chrome is coming off but if you paint them black I am sure they would be okay. I can post some pics if you like.

Beware of the bigfoot shift lever. I tried it on my XJ and it is way too long to be able to shift comfortably at all. I wear size 13 shoes and had to switch back to the stock lever. On XS's the shift lever comes out behind the pegs, but on a XJ it is in front of the pegs.

If you've still got it maybe we can work a deal or something. I have ginormous feet. You know, you'd think I'd be a better swimmer....

Triump, I've already got some bars in the works, but if you'd like, pm me and we can work something out for my old bars.
