    Hi,

    Try these sites:

    www.jafrum.com
    www.leatherup.com

You can find helmets that are very reasonably priced that meet Snell & DOT standards. I have had good luck ordering from both sites.

    Good Luck.

this is definitely a long shot but: Wednesday I was dropping off donations at the Salvation Army and noticed a perfect condition Arai RX7 for $25. Turned out a perfect fit as well. You bet I bought it! Those list new for hundred$ beyond my budget.

If you're in a city it might be worth calling or visiting larger Salvation Army or Goodwill stores.

    good luck!

I might have a large, but it is a half helmet. I've got another one on the way to my place, and if the new one I get works out I won't need the other.(It has only been used for a MANYS course, and never been down or dropped.) I will keep you posted.

Just a "heads up", wearing others helmet is not a fantastic idea.\
Besides the obvious things like stench and sweat :? , helmets conform to their owners. The foam and liner begin to take shape and decrease the amount of cusioning to someone else "diffrent shaped cranium".

I know it is only a fractional decrease in protection, but then again I dont want MY CRANIUM DECREASED a fraction. 8O

They are really supposed to lose their usefulness after 36 months.

Even though an old beat up, dropped, kicked, drop kicked helmet is better that a ball cap or simmilar.

PS I have used others helmets before, even ones that should have never seen the light of day  but for your own good I suggest, and only suggest, getting a new helmet.

I have to agree with A.F. I like to look at helmets the way I look at shoes. Theres a reason there are so many because no two heads are the same. A helmet that fits great on one person may not fit another. Poor fitment means poor protection.

Anyway, I do agree that a used one is better than none at all. Just make sure it hasn't hit the ground hard before.

    Picta,
Those sites that are mentioned in the earlier post are dirt cheap. You'll be hard pressed to find any offering even a used one at those new prices. Grab a new one. Even if the bike needs to sit till you can afford one it's still better then a broken melon.

    Keep it safe.

    BTW: I like that avitar....ARRRRRRGH!
