    Just wanted to say Hi!

I got my 1982 650 Seca last year. I'm happy to say that its my first bike. It was in pretty good shape only minor things needed to be fixed. Had to change the steering bearing, fix up the carbs, some new tires and the other tune up stuff. It rode well for the most part. The bike took a while to warm up with the choke on, which some times led to low idle/stall if i didn't give it enough time to warm up. I found that i could only rev to about 6000 which led me to think some more carb work was needed. But as its my first bike i just let it be so i could enjoy riding during the summer. The only other issue i had was the front brakes seemed to be a little slow to respond but i read here that it was pretty normal. Overall i found that my Seca was a great bike for me to start off on. This winter i decided to look at some of the issues i had and to start turning my Seca into a Cafe Racer. I've decided to upgrade to steal braided brake lines. I'm also planing to repaint the bike. This forum has been a lot of help and hopefully you guys don't mind some answering some of my stupid questions as i'm not very mechanically inept.

    Welcome,

This is the place to be for all things XJ. Any question you have can be answered by someone here.

Glad to hear your keeping the bike alive and making the improvements. There are also many here that can give you advice, veryhonestly I might add, on the best way to make changes and how difficult it may be. There are some great creations made by some of these guys.

Where are you from? I hear that Canada is a pretty big place. I have a friend, Bill, in Toronto, do you know him?

HA! Hey Bill, I'm brand spanking new here too, and just got an 82 Seca 650 myself. I'm also new Van (Coquitlam). Maybe I'll see you on the road sometime this summer.
