Okay you can all stop laughing now :? . I feel retarded but after hours of reading on this forum I've been unable to find the answer. Putting together a parts list for my carb cleaning/tuning/screw replacing/ well you get the idea. So, do I need to make a YICS tool or not? Also thinking about buying a colortune based on the threads I've read touting it.
So far the list is as follows:

    -new boots(both sides)
-new pilot screws and o-rings etc..
    -colortune
    -new bowl drain screws
    -new plugs(iridium maybe)?
    -maybe new dyna coils(any thoughts)?
-tires? is there an age limit or just a good inspection required? Other
than the obvious dryrot or lack of tread, cuts, sidewall damage, what
should i look for? The rubber feels harder than I expected which
makes me think I should replace them.
-All the baking pans and such from ricks old school carb cleaning thread.
    -and some Keebler elves

    all advice welcome!

does your engine say YICS on the side? I was under the impression that if the motor has it, its stamped onto the casing. If it does, then I leave it to you to make the final decision on whether or not to make the tool.

Definitely NOT YICS! Now you can breathe a sigh of relief.

Are the carbs Hitachi or Mikuni? All the 86 water-cooled Maxim's I have seen have Mikuni's and are not YICS. The 86 air-cooled Maxim's have Hitachi's and are YICS.

    Thanks killer,

I was hoping for that answer. How long have you had your x? Just picked mine up a few weeks ago. 11k on it. Needs a little tlc and a rider after 5 years in a barn. Let me know how it's coming along if you get time and I'll do the same.

Picked mine up last September. Just had some stainless braided brake lines installed today, but found out that I need to repair a seal in at least one of my calipers in order to create enough vacuum to refill the brake lines. Almost done with a complete carb cleaning/repair job. Hope to have it running by this weekend. You should post some pics of your X!

The water cooled Maxim X doesn't have a YICS port. The water jackets for engine cooling are in the way.
