reading Woot's post below reminded me that I'd like to be able to use my cellphone from inside my helmet. NO... I'm not talking about when riding :) - for me that could spell disaster! But if a call comes in (usually something major important like wife needing milk at home), or when I wanna make a call (like "where the heck did you say your place was again?" it would be nice to pull off the road and use the phone without removing my helmet every time.

Checked a local store and they were kinda "uh, I dunno, this might work" and one online site I checked had confusing, and frequently pricey, options.

    Any thoughts?

    thanks

Do some web-searches and there is quite a bit of information.

Here's one site I found with some options although I wasn't impressed enough with any of them myself.
Bluetooth will be the best option IMO.
Options are out there, just not cheap options.

thanks, Mike - that is an interesting site, with lots of info. I'll dig deeper into it.

Since I'm thrifty (okay... cheap!) I figure if I can't find a good wireless (Bluetooth) link at a low price, I could even use wired, running a remote ear/mic combo into my helmet from a phone on my belt. In my first try at that however it seemed hard to keep the earpiece in place when putting on my helmet. May need to start learning about available helmet speakers.

Will share any solutions I happen to discover.

    thanks again,
    gene

i say bluetooth all the way.

unless you want to dangle wires from your helmet

also, wind noise will be picked up unless your helmet's pretty closed...

my fone is a Moto F3 and is 4-5mm thick, i can just slide it between my ear and helmet when i need to talk. but I would rather have something else.

A neat idea is helmets with built in bluetooth.

I have the generic T mobile phone, and I find that with a full face, I can just jam the ear part back by my right ear, and that puts the mouth part close enough that I can talk. I can't call anyone, without stopping and using the buttons, but I can open it and jam it in there when it's really a call I need to take. Not blue tooth, and not overly comfortable to lose bear hair in the buttons, but works really well when I need it.
