It came to my attention that some people found my old avatar, the "SS" bolts, offensive. Please don't take it personally, it was originally a symbol for lightning and the power of thunder. However due to it's connection with certain groups i.e. Nazi party, fascists and White superiority groups, it's become an unpopular mark, so i made a new one, please tell me now if you find it offensive, because if not, the split star is becoming the symbol for my brand of bikes someday. thanks for the understanding.

I like the new one, and yes, I found the old one extremely offensive.

Like the new one Ian. The old one did not bother me but then some of the bike forums I frequent have a LOT worse.

    No harm done. 8)

Got no problem w/ the new one Ion/Ian - better to use your own creativity than rely on an old/tainted symbol anyway.

Damn Nazis screwed everything up. The swastika was a holy symbol for a few different religions - they messed that one up, too.

I try not to be TOO P.C., but yeah, the lightning bolts was a bit much for my taste. It's nice to see you are understanding of others' reactions.

I am very pleased with your consideration toward others. A rare quality this day in age. PC aside, the previous avatar has too many poor quality associations attached to it and ION doesn't impress me as the type of person who would be a party to support those knuckleheads. Your personalized avatar is a fine product, I'd be happy to see it on the road someday. Keep your dreams alive, they just might come true (if your abilities on your machine are an indicator, we'll see these bikes before too very long).

Just for the sake of discussion if it was a picture of a guy with a turban and a beard holding a stick of dynamite, i wonder if i would have got the same reaction.

Food for thought. I will confess that I don't like to see anyone overtly flaunted or sullied, but humor is always in good taste (especially if it is a subtle zinger that requires a bit of reasoning on the part of the viewer). I guess I could say I'm a bit conservative, twisted sense of humor aside (Gary Larson, your my hero).

Thank god Mercedes-Benz hasn’t adopted the name Super-Sport for any of their vehicles. Works for a camaro but something just doesn’t sound right about a Mercedes-Benz SS500. I recall reading somewhere that they wanted to name the original 300SL, the 300SS. But they wisely went with SL for Super Lite.

nice avatar Ian.k, Personally I didnt even know what those lightning bolts stood for, there fore I had no quams about it. I actually thought you grabbed the 2 S's from the "KISS" band and thought that was cool. I'm not an over acheiver when it comes to being PC. Its good to know that you are concerned about offending others, but in the same token, some are too easily offended. I do like the split star though, very bold! I plan as well to have my own line of bikes some day. I Hope I can attain my dream, as I hope you can too.If you ever want to chat about Ideas, go ahead and PM me.

I'm sure you're right; I was probably being overly sensitive. After all, I'm sure Goering loved his mother, and I hear Hitler was nice to cats...

And dogs too. Just had this thing about religion... anywho, I'm just glad we can be open and honest about anything here (no, I'm not getting sappy on you guys) and that the discussions (with only one or two exceptions) have been fruitful and fun (just like it should be). ION has my admiration for being a conciderate person and an incredibly talented artist. Sensitivity had another name years ago, it was concideration if I remember right. Nothing wrong with it, makes me wonder where civility went. Found plenty of it here however. Nice little island in the middle of the ocean of life.

Well, one thing I like about this board is that, unlike every other board I visit, there's no "political forum" that I have to avoid! ;)

Haha....I don't care who you are...that's funny right there!

I did notice it and wondered why it was chosen but I also know not to judge a book by it's cover. I know some guys who wave confederate flags out of pure hatred and others like me who just love living in the south. So it comes down to the person and not some symbol for me to trust or distrust. Personally, I don't like Ian....because he's more talented than me!

Time for a name change to GreenMaxim.

Gotta agree though. Some are born with certain talents that others strive all their life to imitate.

I can't even draw a straight line with a ruler let alone sketch a legible drawing. :D

That would mean repainting my bike green to match the name. No wait........I could build a new bike and call it Green Hornet! Yea...a green Seca with wheelie bar shaped like a stinger! 8)

I appreciate the compliments thus far, but you should know: It took me sending 6 cars i really liked to the junkheap to get at the level i'm at now of knowledge and skill, and i'm still learning. I can't weld worth stink either. I'm working on that one though. As for creativity, the best method i found is to try lots of different ideas, if they don't work, toss it. usually when i'm about to design something i sit down and do about 20 different sketches using a whiteboard, pencil+paper, photoshop or in 3d. Then from those i pick what i like about each one, and put them together another 20 times if nessacary and so fourth. Second thought, i like to read everything I can and immerse in ideas that are out there, i.e. motorcycle magazines, shows, websites etc. thin gains me an understanding of whay I like and don't like as far as different configurations go.
