Hey folks....is there any way of improving the worn finish on the engine?
Can you take off the old laquer and refinish or just polish it up?
    Thanx

Yes, you can use 400-600 grit wet sand paper to remove the clearcoat from your engine. Then follow that with 1000-1500 grit wet sanding to get it smoother. Then use some good aluminum polish and a buffer to get it as shiny as chrome. I re-did my side covers about 5 years ago and they still shine like chrome. Instead of doing the entire engine, I used flat black high temp paint to do the main part of the engine case. I like it.

yeah, that looks really good. i did the same thing to the bar around the back of the seat, the forks and the stock foot peg trim... it came out spotless. it's definately worth the little bit of elbow grease

Paint stripper then polish! No elbow grease required.
