My Seca has a tendency to do a systems check while I'm driving down the road. I haven't really figured out any particular pattern for it, it just seems to happen sometimes. And on occasion, it won't even finish the check before it starts it again, sometimes it will do many checks on top of each other.

Any ideas on where to look to make it stop doing this? The last time I had the headlight out, I check all the connections in there, and all were good.

The lights don't ever go out on the panel, just the systems check cycles through.

That has to be annoying. I would start by making sure the check button isn't sticking. Does it do it if you just let it idle sitting still?

No, it only seems to be while I'm driving. And the button itself is out all the way. But I don't know how the internals are on it.

I'd lay odds on a sticky button. Clean that bugger out with alcohol and dry it out well, should be the first stop in your efforts to troubleshoot this one. Next would be the step you already took (chase wire connections). Lastly, look at the connector between the display and the main harness. Hope you find the cure, looks like a few folks could use your help on this one. Good luck!

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere being aggrivated by bumps in the road.
I would try wiggling the wiring harnesses while running to see if you could recreate the problem.

Had that on mine. It only did it in cold weather, and always happened when I hit speed bumps.

It was a dirty / sticky "Warning Control" switch. I took it apart and it had some kind of cobwebs or something in it. Cleaned and re-installed and it's been fine since.

Now to overide the "Batt" signal...

(Yeah, I've read the threads on fixing the batt warning, just need to find the time.)

Bringing this one back from the dead.

I never did get in there, until today. Just took apart the front end of the bike, to work on the front tire, brakes, and electrical.

Well, turns out these switches use a magnetic reed switch in them. The warning switch reed solder joint was loose, and the check reed switch doesn't seem to function properly at all. I have them both apart, but it looks like they might be a lost cause. I think I'm going to replace them with a normal momentary on switch, and see where that gets me.

Ok, so I got everything back together now. The warning and check switches both work flawlessly now with the new switches in there. I got them from Radioshack, and just drilled a hole on either side, near the factory switches. I couldn't find any easy way to replace the switches, so I just added to them, and moved the wires.
