Okay, so I just busted one of the posts off where the float assembly mounts to the carb. Not good. So my first thought was to drill a hole in the busted piece and the remaining section and use jb weld in the holes to hold them together. after assembly of course. Anyone got any better ideas? Not sure if the jb is stable when submerged in gasoline.

I have complete used carb assemblies (bare or dressed) available if and when it comes to that. PM me for prices, and let me know which carb body it is (all four are different).

I haven't tried it myself, but I do belief others have used JB Weld with success for just such a problem

Or just take them to your local machine shop and have them weld that aluminum.

I wouldn't recommend anything short of finding a replacement Carb Body with a non-broken Post.

I wouldn't trust anything short of doing it right!
The geometry of the Float Hinge is Critical.
If you are off by a little bit ... you'll hang-up a Float and flood.

The recommendation is to find a used Body.
    Strip it clean.
Everything ... including all the Air Jets and Metering.
Swap all of your Parts on to the replacement Body.

(Before you extract the ztwo air jets found below the cover plate (optional) on the top-end of the Carb Body ... Note their Position.

The Haynes Manual is misprinted and reverses the labeling.
The Air Jet with the Larger Metering Port is PILOT AIR
The Air Jet with the Smaller Metering Port is MAIN AIR>
