Prior owner over filled the bike and I just got it. It appears to be leaking out of a tube in the, I am guessing, air filter box. Where is the drain plug for me to empty some of this oil and does this mean I need a new air filter?

drain your oil and it should stop draining out. I had a sticky carb that liked to flood and I had the same problem. it is right under the oil filter on the bottom front of the motor. You will have to get down to find it because it is hidden by the filter housing. Hope that helps!

You want to check that oil for fuel. If present, DON'T run the bike until you change that oil...

If you have fuel in the oil, you'll want to check the diaphram(s) in the petcock and the O'ring and replace them.

No fuel in the oil, just smells hot oil. Side question, how do I get the center stand down? I tried to rock it backwards, but it is heavy. Should I just throw my lead butt into it or is there a trick?

    for the center stand.
    1) get off the bike
    2) stand on the leaver
    3) pick up on the bike as you push backwards.

Im not being a smart ass. my 16 year old brother showed me. He has a bike too.

Don't you mean rock forward? As you probably know, to get the bike off the center stand, sit on it and rock forward. Might want to try spraying underneath where the stand pivots with some WD-40. It's possible that overflow acid and water from the battery overflow tube drained down on the centerstand, making it stiff to move.

as far as the center stand i asked the same thing about two months ago, trick is to grab the the side of the grab bar with right hand, left hand on the left grip, step with your right foot onto stand and as you stand up pushing the stand down making sure the stand and bike are level pull with your right hand back and up all in one motion while yoour left hand steadys the bike and gives a slight pull backwards. put all your weight on the stand as you do this it is easier once you get the concept.

Don't take anything for "Granted" when you are dealing with an overflow of Oil into the Airbox.

Have a Cylinder Compression Check done with a fully charged battery, all the Spark Plugs Removed, the Trans in Neutral and the Carb Butterfly's Opened to Wide Open Throttle.

This is a measure of Preventative Maintenance that should be done, anyway.
Post your Compression readings so we have an idea of the relative state of health of your Engine.

Check out youtube for tutorials on how to get your bike up on a centerstand.

It's easy once you get the hang of it...

Step down on the centerstand foot pedal, rock the bike SIDE TO SIDE until you are sure it's on BOTH feet. Then press STRAIGHT doewn with your foot and pull up on the frame / somewhere solid with your free hand (right hand).

This method works great. I use it to get my dads goldwing (99, fully faired mini-van of motorcycles) on its centerstand without a hitch (mind you the goldwing is a bit heavier to lift).

... Also, I would just change the oil, put in a new filter.

Just as well for piece of mind. You want to change fluids on a new bike purchase anyway to get a reliable baseline for your next oilchange.
