No, I'm not talking OMGs here.

The patch is one that was made for the XJ World Relay 2000. A backpack was filled with patches and sent around the world. It was relayed between XJ riders and took over three years to complete it's journey. It started January 1, 2000, in Australia and was sent to the west coast of the USA. The bag traveled across the southern US states, up the east coast and was then shipped over to Europe. It was passed around Europe and the British Isles for about three years and arrived in Canada in May of 2003. After the bag traveled across the upper States and Canada it ended it's journey in Oregon. As it was sent around, riders were asked to sign the log and put in a trinket or post card that showed where the rider was from. Riders were welcome to keep a patch. The contents were shipped to the originator's home on a couple of occasions as it was getting too full and the patches had to be re-supplied. The bag had the XJCD 2.0.1 and a Resource CD version 1.0 (which I copied). I am a proud patch member and have it sewn on to my saddlebag. The web site to the relay has been removed.

Isn't there something on the xjcds about the relay?

    That may have the log.

I'll check tonight and report back.

IIRC the bag was to go to a museum... in any case - in the media section here I had put a video of one of the legs of the ride... tv news clip so it's short and not full of content.

Didn't find it this morning... will look again later.

    Patch holder as well.

I am also a patch holder, and got to ride with "the bag".

The bag and contents have found a home in the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa. I haven't been to visit it yet, but I plan on it.

Is there an XJ bikes patch going around I should know about?
(other than this one... that I clearly missed out on, hah)

I'm patching my jacket a bit... would be a nice addition.

Maybe someone could hook it up?

Just wanted to chime in and say with pride " I was there" an experience I will never froget both riding with "the bag" and following is progress around the world.
The crazy Idea Paul Isenburg on XJ Owners @ Micapeak.com had wasnt so crazy after all and fulfilled all of its objectives:
Make our virtual connections real, get to know each other a bit better, and have fun.

It was good meeting other virtual Xjers who have become friends.
I was involved in the European leg in England.

The European website is still up at: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/simon.beever1/docs/.

Hi Woot! good to see you are still around!

Dave? Great to see you again!

Oh yes I do remember! :D That was an absolutely fantastic ride. I just had the pictures out from that day - wishing I had invested in a digital camera! Cat and the Fiddle - 2002.

    How's it going?

Dave for what it is worth - http://xat.com/xjbikes is an xj live chat page... with talk of Madams I'm sure...

Family life here isn't too bad... it's quiet which is what I like. Heading out on a bike trip in mid-may... three 600km days... and my solo shot home 1600km day. We have to go a bit further for roads like yours, but the traffic tends to be lighter... good thing I'll be carrying a GPS so I don't get lost on our mystery tour. ;)

We have "hot spots" on here now.... so can coordinate the path...

And with GPS can record the path...

    Suggest we start another one
