I recently read a post about the kilohms resistance of the caps and I wanted to ask a question.
What exactly are the caps for.
As I was growing up, I got the bug early. I was always taught the less resistance to the plug the better. I even remember the 100 ohms per foot law of plug wires. Granted, that doesn't truly apply due to the fact that most of our wires are less than a foot long. Most stock wires for these bikes are stranded copper core. This would transfer electricity nicely to the plug but then you have the resistor caps which take away the strength of the power delivered by the coil. Don't really need the resistance anyways, not many of us have stereos or sensitive electronics that they can interfer with.
I went through a set of plugs about every six months with the caps and I still go through a set of plugs the same time with the automotive wire set I modified.
    Help me to understand.

I'm no expert, but I suspect resistor caps (or any resistance, for that matter) increase spark duration and reduce plug wear.

Actually, too much resistance will degrade the spark. Spark plugs do vary in heat ranges, thus one use of resistors in the caps is to keep the spark within the tolerance of the factory recommended spark plug.

Basic reason for the resiutance caps is to : as you thought, prevent Electro Noises Bad for cellphones and Ignition processors. Should you have one within a few feet. But yr right; Anything in the way of Spark delivery, results in palpable perf losses.
Sometimes R plugs/caps, ike Air gap plugs (a secondary gap that makes the spark charge build up before Arcing) this makes semi fouled plugs fire reliably.
IMO a early wearing plug is often a wrong heat range issue.
