Lowered 3-1/2 inches rear with hardtail struts, 1-5/8 front, shortened kickstand, made a custom rear frame section, modified dirt bike bars, took off mufflers and centerstand. Still have to make my seat pan/fender, forward controls, await my clip-ons(ordered the wrong size), paint, install pods, re-wire for no guages, signals, or safety switches, install new fork seals, and get her tuned. What do think so far?
I'm open to opinions and suggestions.

It's looking good! You'll be pleasingly surprized the first time you ride it. You will turn some heads too!! PD

Thanks for the comments guys. I hope I can get some more work done tonight, I'll take pics and post up if I do. I just want a low-buck custom to play with. I can't afford, nor can I justify spending 10-15k to have a custom bike, when I can build it myself and get that satisfactory feeling, and be able to say I built it.

    Yup, I heard that!
And where do you see those $15,000-$20,000 custom bikes? Parked in front of the local bars and resteraunts to be shown off, not being rode. Lot of good that is.

Well, I had her fired.... for about half a second. A combination of bad gas, fouled plugs, and carbs that need cleaned didn't help either. But I'm well on my way. I changed the oil and added a little seafoam, tomorrow i'm going to go get some premium, new plugs, and add some seafoam to the gas and see if I can't get her running. I made my template for my rear cowling/seat pan, I should have it cut out and mocked up tomorrow as well. I also got some more work done on my forwards. Pics to come soon.

Well guys, no dice. What is the plug gap supposed to be? Also It didn't seem like it was getting fuel so I pulled off the tank and squirted fuel into the main line, hit the start button and no fuel left the line. It just sat there. I'm so bummed, I wanted to get this thing fired up today. Can anyone help?

Looks great! Do you mind me asking the length on your hardtail struts. Your bike looks like it has about the stance I want for mine.

Love the look. Nice weld on the sissy bar too! Good luck with the carbs. I pulled mine off last week and found that all enrichment circuits in the float bowls were completely clogged. Ill be putting it back together this weekend! *fingers crossed*

a 'custom' bike isn't 'custom' unless you do the 'custom' work yourself.

otherwise it's someone elses repeated work.

like orange country choppers, sure, they are all "custom" but, they all use the same frame, engines, tires, etc.. just paint is different.

and IMHO, buying a 'custom' bike for 20 grand, is stupid. You're not a real biker, you're a rich prep looking for some flashy toys.

The kid / guy who does his own work, on his own bike, is a true biker.

I got her fired up again and she runs awesome, played with the choke for about one min. adjusted the idle to around 950-1000, no surging, no missing, doesn't load up and will sit and idle till it runs out of gas. I can't believe it! I'm so excited! I will have a video up soon. My camera is broken. :( The measurement for the struts to lower it are 8-3/4 hole to hole. Pics tonight hopefully!!

Did you take the carbs off and clean them?

I have not thoroughly cleaned them yet. I plan on doing that next after my tail section is finished up. Then I'm gonna adjust the valves and put a new gasket on. I'm sure the carbs need cleaned, and as I want this bike reliable I will do it right.
Sorry for the crappy pic, it's from my cell phone,

Also, anyone know where I can get a custom digital tach that I can "hide"? I don't want to over rev this thing!

I'll have to see what I can find, I need to have something there to judge my speed off of.

I should try that, it's cheap enough to experiment with, and I could light it with an led. Awesome! Thanks for the info!

Thanks guys. I'll have more updates soon. The carbs are off getting cleaned, and hopefully back on in week or two. Gotta get some filters too.
