the tci is the black box about the size of a deck of cards plugged into your bikes electrical system. I had intermittent failure with mine, it would die while I was riding, and when I changed that, it worked perfectly from then on.

on the xj750 maxim it is on the left side just below the seat, behind the triangular metal panel that has the word maxim on it.

Did you change the TCI? What about the pickup coils?

Look up no spark on the forum archives, there are a ton of threads on this topic.
If you swapped out the TCI and the other parts, it is possible that you have two bad parts (they are 25+ years old). Have you tested the components off of the bike? Use an ohm meter and follow the instructions in the service/Haynes/(your choice here) manual.

i put a screwdriver in the terminal wire and tried to get see any spark and also put my fluke leads in the wire and turned it over with no reading at all
Now... i did some welding on the frame with the ignition coils still hooked to the frame, would that fry them? if so i did change them out with my others
but if i don't have enough cold crannking amps being that maybe i tried too many times to crank it i wouldn't get any spark then, would i ?so i 'm charging
the battery and retracing everything. thanks

Glad to offer suggestions but I'm hoping to offer solutions.
You say you tried turning the engine with the meter plugged into the secondary coil lead? Man, I hope you have a meter capable of getting nailed with 20KV! Welding on a bike with the electronics still attached is a dicey affair, odds are not in your favor that they survived. On the bright side, there have been one or two reports of folks getting through that without apparent damage. I hope you will be similarly blessed.
Do you have a book with specs?

    You don't say which bike......

I helped WarDog12 with a no spark issue on his 550. It turned out to be a dirty kill switch.

By coincidence, I was reading in my latest issue of Counterman (trade magazine for us parts guys) about welding on a vehicle with onboard electronics. They recommended that the negative battery cable be removed before welding. Seems simple enough.
