    Hey all,
I am wondering if any of you have done a gas cap modification and if so how? I am wanting to remove the locking style cap on my maxim750 and replace it with a old style screw on cap, but I have no Idea how to go about doing this. Any knowledge shared on this idea would be greatly appreciated. If that idea is impossible to do, I was possibly thing of a way to "shave" the stock cap down (or replace with??) to make it sit more flush with the rest of the tank.

I replaced the locking gas cap on one of my Seca 900`s with the flush mount cap off of a Seca II. My friend does body work and he cut enough metal around both filler necks and welded it in place.

With the way the filler necks are on these bikes, I would say you only option is to cut a piece out and weld in the filler neck from another tank with the cap style you want.

Yes, it looks tome like a welding job to re-fit a different style cap on these tanks. And you must remember these are vented gas caps on the XJs. Some are not vented and have a small hose that comes off the tanks to give it air to replace the gas used.
