What would be the best way to convert your 3/4" stock handlebars on a 81 xj650 to 1". The thing is I purchased 1" handlebars and grips by mistake, and now I am trying to rectify the problem... any suggestions?

Honestly, I suggest selling your 1" handlebars and grips on e-bay and picking up the 7/8th bars and grips for a lot cheaper.

Yeah, I wasn't sure... I was checking out the diagram of the bike and didn't quite see if and how risers could be attached without work being done on the frame. [Oh, and that's what I meant (7/8th) instead of (3/4th)]

From a practicality standpoint, you'd be better served trying to return or swap out the 1" bars for the stock size 3/4". Even with the handlebars and grips purchased, you'll still have to contend with the throttle, light and starter switches (with master cyclinder and mirror mounts), and the crown/yoke and handlebar caps.

Didn't think about all of that... I was so geeked in regards to the simple mods that I thought I'd just miraculously make it work! Dumb on me!
