Like many other folks here, I sometimes see an ad for a part I would like for my bike, but the one advertised is for a different model. So I wonder if it might fit my bike; sometimes they do, though more often they probably don't.

Now folks like Chacal and other forum members are good and patient about answering question, but I feel kinda guilty about pestering y'all too often.

Is there any place you can recommend where I could look up parts of different models to see if numbers or specs match, doing the work myself rather than impose on good-hearted fellow bikers?

    thanks

Get yourself a copy of the XJ CDs, there's an excellent little program on there that will cross reference anything XJ and then some.

If you go to www.cheapcycleparts.com and search by part number it will list all the bikes the part fits.

If you don't know the part number you can look it up in the fiche.
