I left the house this morning at 8am... Girls were asleep and I didn't expect to see life before lunch.

I headed out for the shore road, snatching up some of my favorite twisties enroute to the coast. The road was absolutely abandoned - sea fog was pouring in. In my full gear I was toasty and warm - riding roads with nice coastal twisties AND NO CARS!

I pinned the needle at exactly one position - straight up ;) - and didn't let it vary for any straight or turn. Doing this I found I was able to get back to being smooth - no more chopping throttle... gunning it back out of turns - I wanted to make the lines smooth and hold them. I was having a blast.

The whole ride I only passed two vehicles... I got them both in one passing zone - running the old girl from the loping run to a full on scream as I passed them. There is something barbaric about it - something incredibly exciting - hearing the engine zip from a loap to a scream - and back down again for the approaching turn.

There is something to be said for early morning rides - no traffic. :D

I swung inland at the outpost police station. Years ago I used to count cars as I made the turn in for a nice river canion run... If I could could 3 cars then I was fine to go. :D Today I didn't. I was loping along and ran the 20 miles of sweapers at a steady speed.

After 3 hours I pointed it back home to go through a nice tight twisty road... no howling today - just kept it steady... working the spring cobwebs out and learning I'm a different rider than I was... I'm enjoying this loaping speed...

So we'll see what tommorow brings - likely I'll be back on the road for another cruise - this time I'll head west and see what I can find. Head west. :)

    Woot.

I spent my rainy day fixin' up Bruin's Seca. Nice freeby. Tweaked the carbs after he admitted to oiling up his factory cotton gauze air filter. Doh! Scavenged my filter off my Maxim and got him back in gear. Flushed and blead the brakes, oil change, final drive oil change, fixed the rear brake switch, found and fixed a bad upper shock mount pin, installed a used turn signal lens, wrestled with that ruddy middle drive drain plug. What a day! Had a great time helping out, netted me a colortune for my efforts. I'm cheap, what can I say. Glad I had the chance to put my rusty skills to good use for a deserving person! I have but one problem, I have the skills and tools to run a wrench shop but I live with an anal HOA. What can a fellow do? I want to do this more often. Anybody want to offer up a place to do this once in a while?

hmm like the sounds of Dude's offer. and if you're ever in Canada, stop by Sasaktoon. We can do donuts in the underground parking, until something breaks, then spend the rest of the day trying to fix it.

Gad, do you folks know how much acreage costs here in southern California? I'm envious, I'm just alergic to the cold or I would move. I'm begging the wife to let us move, I want nothing more to do with HOA's. Sigh, I would be grateful for even a two car garage on a quarter acre. Since I'm not a movie star, I guess I'd better get busy and sell off a project or two (or four if my wife had her way). I got a promise from her that if I off loaded all of my precious bikes, I could go out and buy any one bike that I wanted. I'm keeping my antiques, too much love invested.

No twisties on the prairies :? . We got wide open spaces as far as the eye can see. Sounds like a fun ride. I spent the whole weekend with the family. Last night we spent about 9hrs at the drive-in. (3 movie night).

Rob, isn't everyone a movie star in CA? "alergic to the cold" LOL, you get used to it. Only downside is the short riding season.
