From Sunday Afternoon to Monday Morning we expect 35-45 cm of snow.

It seems we're not quite done yet! Above forecast from the weather network. That's 14-18" of snow, yet to come! Luckily I haven't put away the snow shovel yet. In 1993, July was the only month that we did not have snow on the ground at some point. I guess I might have to buy a snowmobile.

spent the weekend with the in-laws in southern Alberta this weekend got 2 feet of snow down there. Drove back to Edmonton Yesterday what should have been a 4 hour drive was 6.5 and half the time was spent trying to avoid having the visiting peoples from "the centre of the universe" (toronto) from smashing me off the glare iced highway.
All I want is a little decent weather to ride!

You are correct Robert. Today is my day off. I thought I'd sleep in for a while but had to get up and shovel snow because neither my daughter or wife could get their vehicles out of the driveway. On the up side, it is sunny!
The lounge chair is under there somewhere.

That's why my other bike is a Subaru!

Seriously, RG. I feel for you. On the positive side, at least all the old snow was gone so you didn't have huge snowbanks to throw the snow over when you shoveled. We had two big storms in one week in March, I think it was. Total of about 50-60cms, and I had to throw snow over 8-10 ft snowbanks from all the previous crap! The girlfriend is too "green" to let me get a snowblower... :?

    Hey RangerG,
I think it sucks that your getting all that snow right now, and I know you don't want to hear that there's an up side...but it's good for the farmers. And hey, I grew up in Labrador, I used to get snow in June and July sometimes, and then it started again in Sept. So a little aint too bad. ...Maybe
Hope it melts soon buddy, I heard it;s going to be nice for you guys this week any way.
    Cheers Mac

Least you guys know what you're doing. Though later spent a lot of time in Canada (Ontario and BC), on my first winter visit I was wandering around Toronto enjoying a fine, crisp snowy night. Then a Yorkville bank sign said it was - 7 degrees. Suddenly I was freezing, looking around for penguins!

only later did this dummy Texan realize that:
    - the minus 7 temperature was Celsius
    - the night wasn't all that cold
    - and, I'm an idiot, eh?

So please save some of this snow for me to use when it's 110 (F) down here in Texas.

HAHA, its always funny to hear about when American's and shocked to encounter the metric system. :p I've never quite understood that actually. Surely Americans must be aware of its existence and that its used in all but 2 countries on the planet? Even then I would imagine the UK has to do a hell of a lot of working in metric to deal with its European neighbors. And I don't want to be offensive/start a flame war/s-h-i-t storm, but I often find that many American's seem to be oblivious to much of anything that exists beyond their borders. It serves for a few good stories I've heard though. People with American relatives or what not come here and see the 100 speed limit on the freeways and think that means 100mph. One said "This is great, just like the autobahn in Germany." LOL, all in good fun.

To my real reason for posting there. I live in Edmonton now and also got shit on by this unseasonal return of winter. Canadians don't normally bitch about snow, but they do when they're not supposed to be getting it.

Heres a pic of my car from Mon, morning. The week before it was 23 degrees (73.4F) out and like summer. People walking in shorts and t-shirt, motorcycles a plenty. One week later this happens, its enough even to get a Canadian bitching.

EDIT: About the Toronto stuff. I lived near Waterloo, ON which is about 150km from Toronto my whole life until last September. All of Canada seems to feel that Toronto is "the center of the universe (or so they think)." However, Toronto doesn't seem to be aware its hated and for the most part embraces Canada as a whole. Me personally, I don't believe in the "center of the universe" mentality. I just don't like it because its a big dirty, greasy city. Much like how I never want to set foot in Chicago again, and have no desire to see NY or LA. Small town country boy born and raised. Even Edmonton is much to big and dirty for my liking.

I was in Yorkton on Friday and we woke up to 9 inches of snow. I looked out the window and was so excited. I yelled "OMG! look!" my boyfriend sits up in bed "What?!" "SNOW!! Look at all the snow!" The boyfriend replies "#@$!@!% Snow, I can't wait to move from Canada"

I built a snowman in the hotel parking lot. And had a snowball fight with some kids. It was great!

Mother Nature is an EVIL WITCH!
We have had the warmest winter that I can ever remember with very little snow. What little snow we had was long gone. Motorcycles and expensive cars were out in force.
Until yesterday! Blizzard. Highways shut down.
This is what I got up to today.............the first day of spring!

The good news is that we needed the moisture and the sun has some heat to it now, so the snow won't last long.

That is the most snow that I have seen in one place at any given time all winter long. Do me a favor. Keep it!

Seriously though, With the way that the weather is going. You should be back on the bike by the weekend.

Actually, would like to be able to hit the trails ONCE this winter, since they havent' been open YET>.........grrr I'm still on the same two gallons I put in the sleds back at Christmas break. Circles around the field are fun, but miles across country are funner.

Ranger, I'm LMAO....you started this thread in '08 with the same thing....now, 4 YEARS later, you have exactly the same deal, a crapload of snow. Don't they call that insanity.....doing the same thing or living in the same place and expecting a different result?

I ride year round every year but unfortunately this year, I was able to ride more than usual since we didn't even get a lousy 4" snowfall. I LOVE the snow and live for 2 foot snowfalls! Yeah, yeah, if it happened every week I'm sure I'd learn to hate it but it doesn't, so I don't. If you get the urge, send it to Annapolis! I am enjoying the very warm weather though....took my baby out the other day and it's nice when I only have to wear my riding jacket and can actually feel her arms around me!

They let her outside when it started snowing!

Ok, enough already! It's been snowing all afternoon today! I actually tolerate snow at this time of year quite well. I know it won't last for 6 months, like it does in Nov.
I have often thought that I'd like to live far enough south that I could reasonably expect there would be green grass and a few flowers on the first day of spring.
Then it could snow a few inches on the first day of winter.

How far would I have to go? Kansas, Colorado?
