I have an 86 Radian. It has a manual CCT and from reading the posts here the rattle im hearing is comming from a loose chain. I have ajusted per service manual procudure and there is no diference. Is it possible that the tensioner is bound up? So when i back out the holding bolt on the side it isnt moving ? And if so can I take it apart and clean it out?

Yes on all counts. Note that the gasket will probably tear when you pull the cct so have some gasket paper to make a new one. I haven't taken apart a manual one but the auto has two springs inside so be careful not to lose one.

I got the tensioner out. It moves freely and doesnt seem to be hanging up? But i really think the noise I am hearing is comming from this. It is a rattle at idle and quiets up as soon as you give it some throttle. The sound does change some when you pull in the clutch but i was thinking this was just changing the harmonics inside the clutch cover?? The mraks on the flat of the tensioner from the lock bolt are about int he middle. Can I extend the tensioner by say half the bolt hole, put the locking bolt back in , then install the tensioner in the bike, tightening up the chain a bit more...or is this asking for throuble?
