Anyone ever ride the XJR1300? This is not available in the United States, but sure looks like a nice bike to me. I'm not really into the cruiser bikes which I see everywhere. Wish we had a few more options like the XJR13 here.

Wow, Does that mean us Aussies have got something you guys don't have?

    Must go buy one tomorrow.;)

No, Haven't ridden one, but spoke to a guy the other day who test rode one amongst a few other bikes. He ended up on a Suziki 1400 Mainly based on price and the deal at the time.

Me, If I had the bucks, I'd park one next to the trusty XJ and XS

You Aussies probably have a lot more options than we have here in the USA. Almost everything is either a racer or Harley style bike. The V-Max is one exception. BTW, what is the Suzuki 1400? That's probably another bike we can't get.

You can't get the XJR1300 in the States but you can get the Kawasaki ZRX 1200. Sweet bike that looks like a late 1970's early 1980's superbike.
Check out the review at motorcycle usa. They still do sell the bike we like but you just have to look at bit harder to find them because they don't sell so well here in the states. Case in point the honda 599 or hornet as it is called in europe is the best selling bike in europe. But here in the states they can't move them off the showroom floor.

I'm still a fan of the XJR1300. They still have favourable lines. Seems to be a new breed of big bore nakeds showing up lately. Everybody seems to be going for the street fighter look. Lovin it.

Suzuki has the GSX1400 available over here. Nice, powerful and damn expensive. 8O

    Check out a local review here. http://www.mcnews.com.au/Testing/Suzuki ... /Page1.htm

I wish they would sell these bikes here in the usa too. The Kawi does pretty well here, so I dont understand why the suzuki, yamahauler, and honda wouldnt do well here as well. These bikes are so well rounded and diverse, they make big power and do everything well. I dont get it. Me...I love the looks of the xjr1300. To me its got to be one of the best looking bikes out there. I dont think that the marketing researchers for these four japenese companies do enough digging. If they would ad the same amount of hype they do for the v-twin cruisers and rockets, these high performance standards would sell well here.

Well after this year I don't think we stand a chance of getting the standards. Yamaha sold all of there production Vstar 1100's. So now they are making the 2007 VStar 1100. With sales of V-Twins like that....no standard is being diverted to North America.

I think part of the problem with standards is that people often look back a few years and say I can get the same bike for way less money. Really little changes have been made since the maxim in the standard world...

If you're buying a standard, maybe you're more worried about cost and performance than form - buying a cheaper bike that performs as well would make sense... hence us loons riding our 20 year old maxims ;)

Although - I'd love to see a maxim styled bike built around a inline 4 600 from a current or previous generation - the zzr600 engine is beautiful.

That XJR1300 looks delish! Wouldn't mind seeing that one over here. Wonder how much I would have to part with to get one shipped here? International shipping isn't cheap and the tariffs would probably be outrageous!

OK, so i think I'm going o email yamaha and let them know that we will be willing to test the '08 XJR1300 for the payment of one XJR each. Ohh, I want one bad, I've got a friend that does international shipping, he said he can ship it from London to Houston for about $300. I'm looking for one now. I promise that within two years I will have one.

It's not the shipping you need to worry about, it's getting any imported auto/bike certified for US emissions/safety/etc. I did a little research on it last year (just for fun) and figured it would cost about $25000 to import a nice XJR. Don't ask me where I got that number, since i quickly discarded any pertinent info on the subject when I came to that price conclusion. Let us know after your 2 year window what happens, I'm sure we'd all like to know what it takes ($$$, shipping, certification, title, etc) to get the deal done. I'd love to have an XJR myself but have been looking at ZRX's as a substitute for a muscle bike. The only thing I don't like about ZRX's is that terrible swingarm.

how different is that bike from the xj frames in the us? could you do some swapping and make a sudo-legal bike using an american frame. the bike doesn't look much bigger than a seca.

Think I recall reading one reason we don't have so many 1000+ cc imports is a special tax the Harley lobby got imposed on them. Don't know if that's still the case.

Wonder how tough it would be to 'greymarket' them, buying overseas and shipping back here. Does the scary certification hassle mentioned above apply when it's already yours and you're just bringing it home with you?

We have that one in Canada this year. $12,000. I'd probably go with a Suzuki Bandit 1250 for about $1500 less.

We have that one in Canada too! I'd still rather have an XJR 1300.
