I thought it might be fun to every week or so come up with some really radical bike design based on an xj then post it on here, so here's one modeled in Rhino3d. So the deal is I get better at 3d modeling and overall conception, and you all get some bike ideas and inspiration. People's response to this one will determine the frequency of new bikes. So Enjoy. Any suggestions for names for each idea are welcome

Great idea Ian! Keep it up. I love the big down tube on this one and the beach bars. But those inside headers will have to be bent like crazy.

Love it man!! Very retro Cali-bobber style!! Keep em coming man! You definetly have some talent with that stuff. I'm always welcoming new ideas since me and a friend are in the planning stages of his XJ650 chopper, and I have an XS650 that I plan on chopping. Plenty of inspiring pics of XS's out there, not many of XJ's though! You can bet that I'll be saving every one of these to my hard drive! :D

Might want to think about putting a signature somewhere on these just in case they start getting spread around, want to make sure you get credit.

I love the idea for posting these designs. I'd suggest uploading these files into the forum thread so they aren't dependant on the 'other' locations. Just in case they get deleted there

I like this design. Couple questions:
    1. I don't see the shaft in your design. Are you planning on converting to chain drive?
    2. Will this exhaust not get in the way of the rider? I wouldn’t want to burn my legs… 8O 8)

to answer both of Sno's questions.

    1. there's no shaft, or drive system at all included, it's up to whoever builds it to make it work whatever way they want.
2.It's hard to tell from the pics but there is a chrome guard that covers where one's legs would be and the pipe itself is double layered to prevent against bluing. Both those thigns should keep one's legs warm but not burnt. also with most riders, the footpegs are wide enough away fromt he bike that you'r legs arent likely to come in contact with it anyway.

Also if a certain admin wants to make a special place on the forum for me, well that would be just dandy.

    Joel:

You have always been a good supporter of my stuff, and as for people stealing the pics, you all saw them here first, thus can vouch their authenticity and real owner. Also if anyone sees these on another website without giving credit to me, please tell me in p.m.

Also as no contesting names have come up, this will be refered to hereon as the "retro rocket"

Since response was so positive, i think i'll make another today.

damn!... That thing is pretty kool Ian. I like the raw look of the design. Definatley retro. The perimiter brakes are sweet. Id go with a shaft or rim drive system. If I had to name it, I'd call it "Jetson" or "burnout", because it looks like it would be a futuristic 40's machine, and it could handle a good ole burnout. Where do you find your soft wear to make these designs?

I'm thinking the pics can be uploaded when you are posting the thread. Down here (see attached pic) you would hit the 'Browse' button. Find the pic on your hard drive, then hit 'Add Attachment'. If you want to add multiple pics you'd hit 'Browse' and do it again. Once done hit 'Submit' button. Give it a try in our ‘Test Forum' to see how this works. This way we would not be dependent on another sites pics and would not have missing pics when they are erased 'over there' like in my second attached pic .

I'm thinking maybe 'XJ Modifications' would be a good forum for these designs? That's where people could ask how to modify this or that... Will this work?
