Can anyone tell me if a 140/90-16 rear tire will fit on my XJ700n?

My stock tire is a 130/90-16

    Anyone got an idea? :?:

I've never tried to actually fit one myself, but everyone says "NO!" And if you look at the clearance on the shaft side of the swingarm, there is precious little room for bigger tires. Also, putting a wider tire on the stock rim changes the dimensions of your contact patch. Probably not significantly, but something to consider...

That said!! If you're handy and want to get creative, you can try to fit a '84-'97 Virago swingarm and rear wheel which comes stock with a 140 and I've heard can even fit a 150! I don't even know if it can be done, but it's something I have in mind to try in the future if I can ever find a XV swingarm for cheep.

Rats!! I was hoping to get you to do all the hard work on the Virago swingarm conversion and then reap the benefits...

MT90 is the same as 130/90.

    See here.

    16 is the wheel diameter.

Cool thats what i though i'm kicking myself now for not getting the tires that i want cuz it though that the size was incorrect. well will have to just wear out the rear and get the roadriders later.
