Hello everyone. I've been riding my Maxim for about 3 years now and have decided it's time to move on to another (possibly bigger) motorcycle. I would like to keep it and turn it into a cafe racer, but at the moment there is only room for one bike. In the future, I will probably buy another XJ bike once I have my own place with a nice garage.

Anyways here is my good ol maxim that I have been using as a commuter to and from school. It has 20,511 miles. Most of the mileage is highway miles. Registraion is due in July 2008

Maintenancewise, I just changed the engine oil (Castrol 4T 20w50), oil filter, and gearbox oil (Lucas 80w90) about 500 miles ago. I checked the valve clearance when I first brought it home and everything was well within spec.

The carburetors were cleaned at the same time as the oil change. They have Dynojet 120 mains, needle and the piston diaphragm hole was enlarged in accordance with Dynojet's installion instructions. The vacuum and fuel lines going to and from the carb and fuel tank, along with the inline fuel filter were recently replaced (same time as oil change). The air filter is a K&N and after almost 3 years of having it, it still seems very clean. The old exhaust system was dented all over and was rusted so badly that it leaked everywhere and was quite noisey. It was replaced with a black MAC 4-into-1 exhaust with new Versah exhaust gaskets.

The tires have less than 3,000 miles on them and there is still plenty of tread life.
As for the brakes, I rebuilt the calipers, master cylinder and installed stainless steel brake lines along with new pads, shoes and of course new brake fluid (valvoline DOT 3). These were done at around 19,000 miles.
The fork oil seals were replaced at 17,000 miles and the fork was serviced with 15w Bel Ray fork oil. Front wheel bearings were replaced sometime after the fork seals.

Lastly, yes, the fusebox has been replaced with a modern ATC style fusebox. This has been installed since i first joined the forum :)

There are still some things that might need to be fixed. There is a minor leak around the oil level sensor. My guess is that it is not the O-ring itself but rather the sealant for the wire needs to be resealed. Secondly, there is a rip in the seat. This was the way i recieved the motorcycle. Lastly when i first recieved the bike I did drop it once because I forgot to put the kick stand down. This resulted in a cracked left turn signal. It is taped up for now, but the cracks have been slowly progressing.

Finally the price. I am selling this Maxim for $800 firm. If you are interested please send me a PM.

Wow. That looks *exactly* like my bike, except for some of the mods and the fact that you have side covers. Are you sure it's actually a Maxim and doesn't just have Maxim panels? Now I'll have to verify that mine is a Seca. ;p

iron_bible if i lived closed to you i would. Unfortunately I am quite far from Kansas and only willing to make local sales. Thank you for the compliment.

rhys according to the title its a Maxim, but for all i know this thing could have been a 650 converted into a 750. There are soo many items that were not OEM when i first recieved it. Even the master cylinder is from an 1100 of some sort.

    Thanks guys
The maxim is truly a great motorcycle. Trade? Well the only thing that comes to mind that i would trade for is a nice FZR400. But those are rare. If I could keep the maxim i would, however space is very limited at home at the moment until i can move out.

Yup. Confirmed that his (and mine) is a Maxim. It shares some similarities with the Secas that threw me off. Too bad I can't buy that one. It's way prettier than mine. ;)

rhys, thank you for the confirmation. I am still curious as to why I have an XS1100 master cylinder installed...
