Hey everyone, I'm new here and got my first bike. 1982 XJ, Call me stupid but I don't know math very well, there is a casting on the case of the engine stating 2200 cm3, I'm asuming displacement but what I need to know is how many cc it is. I'm a mechanic and performance engine builder in the automotive world, but new in the bike world. I know all the basics as far as carb rebuilding and that stuff, I just dont know math very well. Thanks for the info.

The number you mention is the oil capacity. Above that number and on top of that part of the engine is a flat plate with a model number stamped in it. Give us the first digits of that and we can tell you which engine you have.

So . . . not my thread but I have been kind of curious . . . another new rider and I just got my xj (first bike) last season . . . it has 2500cm3 on the engine and the numbers you mentioned (the serial number I think) on mine are 22T 000310 - I'm told that it is a 750 (and that's what the registration said) but I have never found it on the bike . . . I've always wondered as a lot of people ask me if it's a 650 . . .

    thanks for the help

22T makes it an 83 or 84 XJ-750-MK or ML. The numbers make it a 1983 XJ750ML shipped to Canada.

The xj 650 is 653cc. If you look on the left hand side cover on the inside I believe it tells you the cc's.
