Hey all... After not riding for the last 5 or 6 years I got a new to me bike. I traded my old dirt bike for an 82 Maxim 750. It's a nice bike and all just not what I'm used to. Having never rode a street bike smaller then a 1100 it's damn slow. lol
But I'm older now so I can deal with that. But what I can't deal with is the cold wind. I rode to work today at 39* and I was froze. I need a windshield bad. Looking around I can't seem to find anything that says it will fit a 82 750 with the square handle bars.
What shield would work? Is there different mounting stuff I would have to get on top of the shield?

    Thanks for the help

Hey there I have been looking for a shield myself and found this site Slip Streamer

The below PDF they have shows what will fit on different models.
    Windshield Application Chart
    See page 4 for Yamaha.

    Cheers,

Go aftermarket and keep an eye peeled on Ebay. In your situation I would not get a bug screen, but dont get a fugly barn door either. I went with a medium, light smoke screen I think it was a National Windscreen (?) or something. I got it used for 20 bucks off of EBay. It has generic mounts so it should fit most universal Japanese 80's bikes. I attach it in the spring, and take it off in the summer, and then put it back on in the fall.

Looking at that PDF it does not show a shield for a 82 xj750. Shoes the 83 but not 82. Now it does show a few for the 82 xj1100 with needing the square bar kit. Do you think that would work?

It should work. I have the Spirit model on my '82 (came with it when I got the bike); the lower part clamps to the upper fork tubes and the upper support arms go through spacers that mount underneath the mirrors.
