ok guys i hate the digital readout on my bike  (82 maxim 750)... ya know that big ugly box...i much prefer the dual rounds with the indicators in the center that the 83 750 has... heres my query:

    1. will the gauges from an 83 maxim 750 bolt right up to my 82 maxim 750?

thats keepin it simple, if ya want you could answer:
if the tach on an 83 maxim is electric
if the fuel gauge on an 83 is electric
if the wiring connector is the same

thanks guys! lookin forward to your posts, im thinkin bout runnin out to the moto salvage yard today if i can ever get ahold of this guy!! so ill keep ya posted if i get my answers thru discovery :)

I don't know anything about either of those bikes, but if you go to the link above (you can also get to it through Yamaha's home page) you can look up parts diagrams of pretty much every bike Yamaha has made. I would look to see if the mounting bolts are configured the same and if they are alectrical or mechanical. Good luck.

The tach and speedo should hook up. The '83 doesn't have a fuel gauge so that will have to be by-passed. You will also have to remove the exhaust and exchange the oil level switch for one off an '83. If you don't your oil level light will stay on. The computer dash uses a constant signal to monitor the oil level while the analogue one on the '83 sends a signal to indicate a low level. I don't know about the connectors.

ty jason for the link...it led to some online searches where i found almost eight sites w/diagrams and prices. if youre interested in one that has prices listed this was the cheapest

thanks blue thats exactly what i needed! the connectors can be swapped, the sensors can be switched, i guess i can go aftermarket on the fuel gauge...its all worth it for some wicked sweet gauges :D
