I had the Mac 4-into-1 system on my 750 Seca and didn't really care for the sound/performance. I assume the person who owned it before me, didn't re-jet when he put it on.
I have a Maxim 650 for parts. So I took the header pipes off of it (they're chrome instead of the ugly flat black Mac pipes) and installed them on my 750 (fit perfect) Then I bought a pair of those cheap shorty mufflers sole at various places (Dennis Kirk, JC Whitney, etc.) and they slid right onto the headers perfect.
They sound sweet and it seem to run alot smoother. I should've made this mod a long time ago.
I read where the stock mufflers rust out and people try to find the stock ones (which are hard to find) and this is a great alternative to going back to stock mufflers. They are not loud at all. Nice throaty rumble and sound nice and smooth at speed. Just a thought. >PD<

Do you still have the MAC system? Wanna get rid of it?

    Sticky,
Yes I still have the MAC system. I was planning on selling it, but now I noticed I have a crack in one of the rings that bolt the headers to the engine, I'm going to try to take the header off of the collector box (that's the only way to slide the ring off of the pipe and put a different one on.
So to answer your question: I guess I don't know yet if I'm going to need the MAC system or not.
**Another problem I have is, the place where I get replacement parts (salvage yard full of bikes) has about 3 ft. of snow and I really don't care to dig thru that much snow and tear an exhaust system apart to get the piece I need. I will have to wait for a couple weeks and go get one and try to replace it before I can give you a deffinite answer.
PM me in a couple weeks if your still interested. >PD<

I got mine from another source (used) but these are the ones for $16.99 from Dennis kirk. (sorry no photo - I don't have the camera right now), but they just slip onto your header pipes and there is a mounting screw welded onto the mufflers, so you can hold them up with the strap, which you can cut and drill holes in where you need them.

    gbuddyjoe,
Just so you know, the ones from JC Whitney do not have baffles in them. They are just straight thru cans, so they will be LOUD!! The ones I have on my 750 do have baffles in them, so I assume they are the ones from Dennis Kirk.
I will try to get some photos of the bike on here as soon as I finish putting things back together. (still need a 650 Maxim tank) >PD<

I would appreciate any pictures that you could get, even if you dont have the tank on. I have a 650 Maxim and cant seem to find any pictures with any similar after market exhausts. I am interested to see what they look like on the bike.

Another question for anyone who cares to respond is with something like what is on JCWhitney with a straight pipe, just how loud is it and does it help or hurt the performance or engine?

    Gbuddyjoe,
The reason I switched exhaust systems is, the MAC 4-into-1 has a flat black header and a chrome exhaust can. And I had the chrome stock headers off of a 650 Maxim, so I decided to use them with a pair of shorty mufflers on and see if I liked it. After installing the headers and mufflers, I really like the looks of the chrome header pipes and the mufflers sound just right - nice low rumble at idle and not loud when I rev it up. I haven't been able to ride it out on the road yet (too much snow here) But I'm sure they will be quiet enough for me. I leave for work at 5 a.m. most mornings and don't like to make alot of noise.
To answer your question, the MAC system is quality made and worth what you pay for it. They do make an all chrome version also for a few bucks more. Another good advantage is the fact that you can remove the baffle and use fiberglass exhaust packing to make it even quieter if you want. The 4-into-1 improve performance throughout the entire rpm range and you do not have to rejet, just adjust the air screws and your good to go. >PD<

I had the shortys from jcwhitney pictured above on a honda 400 and hated them. Made it sound like it was trying to be cooler than it was! They were obnoxious, maybe the baffled ones would be better. I bought them because they were cheap, and the stock mufflers were rusted out.

I ended up using different baffles in my shorty mufflers to quiet them down a bit and it sounded alot better.
Now I switched to Harley tapered mufflers, for that almost stock sound and I like'm. Loud is fun for awhile (about a week) and gets annoying after awhile. I like the low rumble from the harley mufflers better now.

    Zookie,
Yes, I do believe the ones I have are from a sportster. They are from the model without the crossover pipes anyway. They sound almost like stock mufflers. They have a nice mellow tone to them at idle and takeoff. They only get a little bit growly under hard excelleration. I think they are about perfect for these bikes. PD

    gbuddyjoe,
I have installed the mac 4 into 2 exhaust on my 750 seca with a little bit of fiddling i got it all to go on. they look great and the sound while not overly loud doesn't scare the entire area into thinking the bikies are coming to town, plus they look pretty smick (I think anyway)
