    Hi Giordano,

That is one very nice looking bike! I have a black 81 XJ650 Maxim but mine has a single rotor front brake. Also my side covers are different than yours. I like the black engine on yours. Did you make the seat? Its different than the US seats.

Congratulations on a fine looking bike,

    Cheers,

    Phil

    Ciao :)
thank for congratulation to all :p
I painted the engine of black paint with a high-temperature paint (600 °C - 6€ cheap ;) ) but it doesn't work so good, after 9 months it's starting to came away from engine  .
the XJ 550 tank is shorter than 650 model so i had to lengthen the seat.

    Ciao

Yes, stunning bike! Wish we had gotten the Euro versions over here.

Most black high-temp paint will start flaking unless the aluminum is spotlessly cleaned and then also etched to promote adhesion. It's almost impossible to do correctly "at home" unless you first spray an epoxy-based primer on the bare aluminum. The high heat just kills the adhesion properties of raw "paint" and it will flake or burn off after a period of time (sometimes, not very long at all!).

All of the "rest of the world" (meaning outside of North America) XJ550 models were the equivalent of the XJ550 Seca models here, and also came with dual front discs.

I'm still brushing up on the XJ750 "rest of the world" models, but one thing I'm fairly certain of is that they came with oil coolers.........
