Unusual Oil Leak

    I have an intermittent oil leak.

    It only happens when it is on the side kick stand. When it is on the center stand it doesn't leak.

    I have looked for a source but I can't see one. I cleaned the nearby areas off but I wasn't able to find anything.

    Any ideas?

    Sounds like your shift shaft seal is leaking,I have a 81 xj650maxim and it did the same thing. I just got a new seal and gasket, that took care of the problem.

    the oil pools around the kickstand. Where it touches the ground.
