final drive

    help please, i can't find in the manual the type and quantity of lubricant for the final drive unit, i know it must be there but it is eluding me.

    I used 80w90, and you fill it to the bottom of the fill hole. (On the centre stand, of course)

    I use this stuff. It's supposed to not be affected by temperature.
    I still get a little weep out of the Breather on cool mornings.

    I wish I could do something to prevent that ... but, that seems to be a trait of the Yamaha Final Drive Unit.

    I've taken to just spraying some Carb Cleaner right on the Final Drive to clean it up without a hassle.

    I changed my final drive oil a few weeks ago and it was from the same Quart/Litre bottle I had purchased last year, and theres still some left.

    So I can't say how much, but in my 86 Maxim X one bottle of Mobil 1 Syn has changed it twice with more to spare.
