Hey guys, I got some rear SECA blinkers for my Maxim. The right side works as it should, but the left side just comes on and stays on. Both front and rear light up, but it is like there is not enough juice to make the relay click. i am thinking it may be corrosion in the blinker switch so not enough juice is making it past the corrosion. What do you think?

BTW, the relay has been switched out. If I switch the blinker wiring, the problem follows.

Have you examined the bayonet fitting on the signal stem? Odds are pretty good that you have corrosion issues and need to clean up the contact to get that second filament working.

Bayonet fitting on the rear looks ok. I have not looked at the front one yet. The bulbs are all 1156 bulbs. The right side works fine, but the left does not. I will look at the front bayonet on the left tonight and see what's up.

defenitly a resistance problem, most likely corrosion.

    Amps X Ohms = Volts
so as ohms goes up, amps go down. and the blinker (not in fact a relay but a bimettalic strip) is designed to operate with the correct ammount of amperage in mind. Not enough, and the strip never gets hot enough to break contact.

try using a multimeter if youve got one, to compare resistance between points on the right and left turnsignal wiring, when you find numbers that dont match, thats the area of your problems, just track it down from there. Could just be a bad wire. That was the problem with my bike.

Got it figured out, there was corrosion on the back blinker bayonet. Also, the front left blinker bulb was a dual filament bulb which was also causing the issue.

Brian, this bike actually has a flasher relay. Three prong.

Once I got the blinkers working the bike wouldn't start. Found the problem to be a bad ignition cutoff relay.

Anyway, read the Barn Fresh rescue started by Sammowry in the General Lounge. Got some pics of it up finally! :D

Did you remember to top off the blinker fluid?

Yeah, I filled it up to the first wire coil inside the blinker. So how do I mend the hole I drilled in the bulb to put the fluid in? ;) :D
