Whelp...I'm finished. (other than a different set of grips that are coming in the mail)

I really like the way it turned out and it's an absolute ball to ride. The new mufflers sound much better, more like a modern 650 sporty bike than the older "super hairdryer noisemaker 2000's" that were on it stock. The stockers were rusted underneath to pieces, to the point where I pulled up on one, and it actually tore most of the way off. (yikes!)

I also ended up going with more lollipop looking mirrors, kinda. They sit low, and I like the look. Not necessarily as cool as the bar end mirrors, but way more functional, and they still don't look out of place.

So I took these the other night on a ride down to the lake, and they show off the finished product alright, so I figured I'd share em. (they're huge...deal with it :) )

    Looks great.

I really like what you did with the front fender. I've been trying to figure out how to cut down my Seca's fender and I think you just gave my the solution.

thanks guys...now I have to decide whether I want to start over...lol. I have a coworker that wants to buy it for 1200ish, and I only have 750-800 into it. Tough to not take the profit and sink it into another bike.

(is there a support group for that? :) )

Nice. I'm normally not a white-paint fan, but I like how clean that looks!

    Looks great!!

I now realize I have to ditch my gauges.. Dammit... Way to go. Haha

All seriousness it looks super clean.
The seat cover is awesome, gauges go withoug saying, and even the mirrors look sweet.

I agree with the other comments about the fender. I was afraid to cut mine when I had it off but it looks top notch on your bike.

    Good Job!

And hey, nothing wrong with making a profit... but $1200 is not enough for that bike.
Keep it, polish the rear hub / pumpkin, the fork legs and the exposed aluminum on your motor and if you want to sell it ask $2000 ++.

It's too bad you don't live around here. Would be an awesome ride (and photoshoot) to have our bikes side-by-side.

very nice work, I also like the rear light and the overall simple and clean look everything seems to work well together. I agree 1200 is way too low for that bike.

Thanks a ton guys...I really appreciate the thoughts... Ease, what did you use to polish the aluminum parts? Metal polish/dremel? (I have both of those...I just hadn't thought to go through it and pretty u those pieces...that's a great idea)

I actually took an absolutle buttload of pics while I was tearing down the bike and changing things....if anyone's interested, feel free to browse here: (the seat teardown/cowl creation/covering pics are there)

I cut the fender down with a dremel and cutting discs. Definately want to measure twice (or 4 times...lol) and cut once on that one. Be careful and go slow, and it's pretty easy.

The bike looks bada$$! U did a great job on it. I agree $1200 is too low. $2000ish is a better ball park!

I actually haven't polished up my aluminum parts yet, but it's definataly on the list of things to do.

I will be doing the fork legs / brake shield with a buffing wheel on a bench grinder when I rebuild my forks, as well I'll do the engine covers on the wheel when I put the stainless hex bolts on the cases... The pumpkin will be the most difficult part... that'll require a dremel, like you said (as will the tight spaces on the other parts).

All metal polishing is tedious and takes forever... SO it might be a while before I get to it.

I will post pics when I finally do though.

    Again, great job.

the gauges are from mikesxs.com. I get a little bit of needle wiggle sometimes, but otherwise their spot on accurate. They glow instead of being backlit at night, so they're much brighter than my tired old stockers were too.

Beautiful bike. I love the seat cowl look. I'd do it myself, but sometimes I think the girlfriend likes riding on the bike even moreso than I do.
