Now that is beautiful. I really love how they have just beefed up the lines and made it look even more solid. What size engine is this thing?

Awesome except for the silly little reflector-on-a-stick !!

(It says 1300 right on the cover FYI)

I went to grab the camera to take pictures, and my mom had it! I had the bike all set up for pics too! I'm going to try to fix a couple of the cracks in the upper faring, and then re spray it with this Nissan Champagne I found at the store. Kinda has a pearl effect to it.

Yeah, I looked at trying out other tanks, but figured 6 bucks for a tank cover ain't half bad. Plus its fibreglass, so I can do whatever I want with it. A metal tank, I'd have to cut out the tunnel and everything, since most sport tanks dont have the frame down the centre. Also, the hole where the original gas lid is on my cover, doubles as a storage compartment. I must have at least .5 cubic feet of space in there, if not a little more.

I definately need another 550 tank though. My buddy and I pulled it apart figuring the petcock was blocked up since the bike wasn't getting fuel, and sure enough it had rust and dirst and shit in it. Also tore the carbs off, cleaned all the bowls and evertything, made sure it all worked properly and put the carbs back on. Fired up no problem (used the tank off "the big mean bike" 650). But still have that idle problem, and the carb boots are slightly cracked, so I'm going to spread silicone sealent over each one and see what that does.

Anyway, if I can get a line on a fairly local CLEAN tank for a decent price, and also a front brake caliper (82 XJ550 Maxim single caliper fork) as mine is seized up. I don't want to go to Yamaha, as they seem to want more money than you have in the bank for the smallest parts.

    Thanks guys!

2.6 liters of overhead cam boosted torque from the gods!!

I've had one of each and the tranny blew on both of them! It's a darn shame they don't make 'em anymore.

Kick stand is badass... but the only drawback to this whole project is the tire size.. you can put full fairing on it... but you're going to have the skinny xj tires and rims on it... it'll look way top heavy if you do decide for full fairing.. street bikes have wider tire sizes and look proportional...

Thanks guys... Im tossed between keeping the stump as my stand or not lol... Too easy for it to be kicked over.

That's an 84 Supra in the background, but yes, easily confusable with the Starion/Conquest. I like those cars as well, the rims are almost the same, except the Starion is a 5 spoke.

Like I said before, the wheels are staying until I can afford to swap over to monoshock and the front forkset.

You're doing a real good job with that bike.

IMO dual discs would set it off.
(ie swap front end with a 650 seca)

No fuel in the tank right now. Thinking of maybe putting the tank cover on a hinge so it lifts right off to fill the tank. I was planning on cutting a new hole in the tank cover where the original hole is on the tank, but it's a bit too complicated.

I'd like to go to a dual disc setup, but I think I may wait to get a different forkset to put on, a little more modern at least.

Anyway, the mirrors are from Tuner Factory X, very good company on ebay. So if anyone else is looknig for something of the same sort check them out. Made me happy to deal with them.

tell me about it

hopefully down the road I'll sway out to a dual disc setup and a smaller front rim... looking for a front setup off a radian

    keep at it...

The tail section is off a zzr 1200 kawasaki. It's justk inda half ass sitting on there hence the crookedness. The motor was actually polished, it just needs to be washed up.

I'm thinking of going to an r1 tail instead of the zzr tail...

^No, it didn't bolt up. I actually have it just kinda resting on the original seat pan, so basically I have to build the subframe for the fairing.

Well I got bored last night and decided I needed to render my bike to kinda look like the end product. Looks a little shotty, but it's the best I could do without spending 50 hours on it. Basically the side faring is Hayabusa, the front fender is R1 and I lifted the tail added seat and handles and put a pipe on it.

    For comparison:

i really think you should go full fairing with this or ditch the busa nose. IMO it looks really bulky just sitting there by its self

Just gotta get some gauges small enough to fit on the fairing stay

A glimpse of things to come... New plans yet again... It's gunna be one funny lookin bike, but it will be unique! Undertail exhaust is under consideration for this new tail section that's on the way soon. I'll be getting a taillgiht and undertail eventually.
