Rebuilding my carbs...

    Ok....
    If someone could tell me what kind of Carbs these are ( brand name ) and also....what I can do to free these pups up. Im going to order a rebuild...but what else..

    They look like a Hitachi 4-pack from my xj700...Rickomatic will have the rebuild info, or you can view his rebuild thread....very very deep!

    get them suckers soaking in carb cleaner, for a start.

    whip out the diaphrams, if not being replaced, but that don't look likely,all the other bits will be in the rebuild kit.

    what about getting all that rust, and getting a shine back to that Aluminum?
    I dont have that much carb cleaner...lol wd40

    Looks like a soda blast is in order, It will clean all the "frost" off of the aluminum and clean the rust off of the metal parts. Lots of work ahead. how do they look inside the float bowls?

    Ok MN, I'll bite.....what's a soda blast? And where do the vacuum lines go from the CARBURETORS....not the manifold....on my xj700nc?

    I recall reading some people talking about soaking in PineSol and Mr. Clean ... You might try a plastic tray that will allow you to fully submerse the carbs in carb cleaner as an adjunct, but be sure to remove the diaphrams first as they are about $80 a pop. You might need to "soak" the tops in WD40 first to loosen the screws up ...
