Just wanted to put out a warning to any one riding to Americade the state police WILL be making all bikes pull over to inspect and ticket and or impound so make sure you are legal paperwork and license wise and prepare to get a ticket if you have aftermarket pipes they will be checking with a sound meter

    This outrages me.
This is a huge event, 50,000 bikers, 46 million in reveune, leave it to New York state to find away to kill the economy even further.
Lake George is a small resort town in the adirondacks, these towns need every buck they can get.
This a regional event whose money is spent in a wide area.
I work in Indian Lake 45 minutes from the event and every room in town is booked for the next week.

Lets see, State police go on a tirade set up road blocks and pull every single bike over to bust there balls.
"That's right just put your stones up here on this block so we can take a good swing at them."

Come next year when folks are making plans I'm sure first on there list is a good ball busting in upstate, yeah right.
The numbers are going to drop big time.
This is the week before Laconia I bet people will just avoid Americade all together next year.

Why don't we plan an antique car show then stop every car over 20 years old as they come into town that should get people to come.
    f***ing New York state assholes!
    AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

Iam just as PO as your are I'll bet your close enough you sneak past the road blocks I believe they are only supposed to be on main roads. The stsate police claims that motorcycle accidents are up 29% at least that there excuse to create check points I would like to see the break down on that 29 % I bet its a bunch of crap. But theres not much I can do Suck up the ticket for my pipes and move on

They are checking helmets too. Blame the crooked politicians and futher bent police. Huge reason why I'm leaving this state as soon as possible. The restrictions they are levying across the board are rediculously restrictive and unneccesary. Leave it to NY though to shoot itself in the foot by kicking paying customers in the teeth.
Also, what they don't tell you is that part of that 29% statistic are motorcycle cops(The other main part is due to the rise in crotch-rocket riding stunt clubs). A couple cities have been implimenting motorcycle patrol in an attempt to save money on gas*Rolls eyes* How they save money by buying a brand new set of Harley Police cruisers, I have no idea. How they plan to impliment this with cops who are barely capable of riding is a whole other issue. Recently in my town, they had one of these motorycle patrol guys violate a right of way for no reason and smash into someone. From what I heard, another biker was making a left turn, and the cop came from behind him and attempted to cut around his left, smashing broadside into the guy, breaking the guy's leg and totalling both bikes(I think an older Kawi and one of the city's brand spanking new Harley Police Cruisers) The victim was taken to our hospital(Which is notoriously bad for serious stuff) and the cop was air-lifted to Syracuse, where he claimed to have amnesia, and not remember the incident; which by all acounts, is crap.
The other thing I find amusing to note, is that two of the cops they have riding this detail, alone, is are tiny little female cops. I've had the...pleasure... of "interacting" with one of them before, and she is not the kind of person you want pulling people over while alone, let alone on the back of a bike that outweighs her five times over. It is a most comical site at best. A gross waste of public funds and a danger to the public at worst.

I drive route 17/86 every day and I see all the bikes headed towards Americade. Sigh. Someday maybe I'll take a cruise up. Not a big one for crowds, though.

From what I have always heard about Americade, they have always been very tough on enforcing every law they can. My barber's son-in-law and son both got tickets while they were up there. The only reason, though, was that they were getting on it pretty good and letting them growl. My barber had aftermarket pipes, too, but was riding conservatively and they didn't bother him. Oh, and they were all on Harleys, not COW's (Couches On Wheels....Goldwings). From talking to people that go there, I get the distinct impression that the promoters want the Wingers, tourers, Beemers and similar types to show up and have taken a hard stand to discourage....uh....how to say it delicately?.....the chopper, Harley, loud pipe and hard partying crowd, from coming to town. They, and their money, are obviously not welcome. Guess that's what Am-Jam and Laconia are for?

It is a sign of summer for me to see all the bikes headed east on my way to and from work.....

I can quarantee you there will be check points at Laconia and there were check points for people coming back from AmJam there was at least one rider coming back from AmJam that had his bike impounded for multiple violations

People do get out of hand and people do get tickets.
But to set up on the exit to the event........
    *Screams again.*
Atleast if they hassle you afterwards most of the good stuff will have been consumed.

A few weeks ago in merry old England a young father of four almost got a criminal record because his rubbish bin was a little too ful and the lid wouldn't close the last 4 inches.

Recently a young mum was fined £75.00 because she was feeding her toddler a piece of sausage roll and the baby dropped a small piece. A pidgeon ran in and ate the bit of sausage but the local jobsworth still fined her for dumping litter.

On the news last night was the tale of a young bloke who was stopped and threatened with arrest at Heathrow airport because his t-shirt had the image of a futuristic robot holding a gun. He was made to take the shirt off and turn it inside out, apparently the t-shirt was offencive.

Sounds to me like some of your cretins have been taking lessons from some of our morons.
