    Hello, I have a 83 750 Maxim that is in need of a gas cap. It has one now, but I got no keys with the bike and was unable to get one for the cap. It opens with a screw driver and light tap from a hammer after drilling out the lock, but I would like something more "stock". :wink: So if anyone has a gas cap with a lock cylinder and key please let me know the price shipped to 26601. The chrome doesn't have to be perfect or even decent for that matter. Thanks in advance.

    i have a gas cap and key from a 550 maxim i dont know if that will fit the 750 tank

    Thanks for the reply, but I honestly do not know the answer to that one. :( I know the tanks are different, but not sure about the caps. If anyone knows, please post up.

    I just got a new/used tank from a guy on e-bay for my 81 Seca 750. It came with everything including the cap and factory key. I think these are interchangable between the Maxim and Seca. Ask around and if they are, I'll part with them if you pay for shipping?

    They do interchange. But if you're looking for a one key solution try to find a guy who has all four items. You know there is a chain lock and a seat lock that can open off the same key.

    All XJ-series caps are interchangable with the following exceptions:

    XJ650 Turbo and XJ900RK models use a black plastic screw-on gas cap, not interchangable with any other models.

    XJ700 all models, California-only, the caps are the same as all the other XJ models that use a chrome flip-open cap, but they do not have the internal fuel vent chamber that is needed for tanks that originally used them.
