    Hey guys!
Well, I bought my 82 Seca Turbo w/o the turbo in it, the guy said it was leaking so he took it out. It's my starter bike so I wasn't too concerned about the loss of power at first, but after about a month of riding I'm already keen on getting her back in there =)

I took a look at it, and what looks like the oil return line seems to have cracked 9 inches out, unless he ripped it right off.
My friend also says I'm missing a 'necessary piece' to put it back on. I don't have the right-side silencer, and the crossover is there, so I'm not sure what he is referring to. That's probably not enough info, but I was wondering if anyone here could post some pictures of how it looks back on there, or link to a text on this?

The turbo itself looks to be in good condition, although with some clearance issues. I primarily want it back in to get my compression back, because without it, I can't get past 130kmh, or 5200-5500 RPM in 5th =(

Thanks all, and I hope the Seca community is still breathing =)

Mercury, that has to be one loud Seca if there's no turbo on it with just the joint exhaust chamber under there 8O ....unless you have some sort of aftermarket setup on there. I'm hoping the PO somehow plugged off the oil supply and return lines, because i'm not exactly sure what you mean by it being cracked 9 inches out? The right side silencer isn't really a silencer at all, it's just a muffler lookin' tube for the wastefate exhaust gas to flow into....and make the bike look equal on both sides. I personally have plugged the wastegate with a copper plug to achieve maximum boost of roughly 15 psi, instead of the wimpy 6-8 psi from the factory....although they had a "power-up kit" which was nothing more than a washer to stick in the end of the wastegate muffler tube to keep more boost in the cylinders, along with a valve to put in the wastegate actuator line to make it not open as soon....this made about 11-12 psi of boost. I know how it feels not to get above 5500 rpm, as I had some fuel delivery issues a while back which was starving by engine for fuel when the turbo kicked in.

I would get that turbo rebuilt, or at least some new oil seals before you stick in back in there, you'll wish you did and you won't have a puddle of oil under your bike every time you want to ride it :x I'll try to post a few pics if I get a chance so you can see what i'm talking about. Good luck

    Hey Nick,
There's a plate on there held together by what looks like Connectix haha, so all the exhaust just goes through the main muffler. There's a rubber hose connecting the hole to the air filter with another hole that seems to go in that general area. The oil lines must've got clamped somewhere because so far no oil puddles lol

For the oil seals, would DIY gaskets work fine? Do they come with the rebuild kit?
Do you think my 5500RPM issue might be fuel delivery related as well?

    Thanks for replying man! Appreciated!

Nick, (kinda weird typing my own name in the header) I think Mac pretty much explained what to do about the turbo rebuild in another thread, I would only use quality parts that are included in that rebuild kit.....and if your not too mechanically inclined, I would send it to a place like Majestic Turbo in Texas to get it done, i've heard they do a good job with rebuilds along with decent prices. My fuel issue was my pump not making enough pressure when the boost came on....between idle and 5500 rpm, the pressure is only 3 psi, but when the boost comes on it needs to be 20+ psi.

The turbo motor and electronics (cdi, boost sensor, knock sensor) are all looking for an increase in atmospheric pressure past 5500 rpm and i'm thinking that might be your problem.....you should go about getting that turbo back in there and those problems will most likely disappear

I live about 45 minutes south of Toledo Ohio, I guess it's not that far from the Canadian border....but i've never crossed the border before, i've heard from other people that lately it can be a hassle to get through :?

    hey turbo,
Me and my friend worked on it a bit a month back, and managed to put the turbo back in without major problems. I acquired a s***y 2nd turbo for nothing, that had bearing failure but still had everything else in shape. After some parts swapping between the two, all seemed well.

Rode her back, boy did she go fast. It was at least twice as powerful as before! But the next day oil started leaking from the oil supply hose to it, and then I had to leave to Germany. I just came back two days ago and had another look. The hose seems fine, so unless the two metal pipes it connects are supposed to be one, I'm just going to try to double-clamp it and tighter...

I just hope this has nothing to do with oil pressure being too much or nothing...

    How are you coming along?

***Edited by Robert, mind the language please! Thanks!***

Sorry for the language slip up!

Hey turbobike (in case you come across this again),

Tightening up the hose solved the oil supply leak to the turbo.
Now it looks like it's leaking from underneath the shaft drive right above that, and from the oil return line/underneath the turbo...

Did you ever have this issue? The turbo leak might just be bad seals, but I was surprised with the shaft drive area leak...pretty random and out of nowhere...
