any way to know what color a bike was from the factory

    82XJ750RJ, this bike was painted with something akin to the old trunk paint....mixed grey/black/green when I got it.

    The plastic side covers are black now that I scrapped of the other crap, so would this mean it was black ? ? the tank has been replaced, and there was no front fender on it it so who knows.

    Is this info in the VIN number by chance ? ?

    I'm going to give the bike at least a rattle can paint job soon, as it is at least 3 diff colors at the moment. runs good, looks like crap.

    Osage, try removing the seat from the cowling and see if the PO went so far as to paint underneath or since you're gonna paint it anyway carefully sand through the layers along an edge on your side covers. Couldn't hurt.
