I'm going to be 60 Years Old on June the 26th. My family wants to know what I want for my Birthday!

I want to go to a private Track Day at Watkins Glen International Race Course in New York and be allowed to have several hours of track time to just do as I please for the afternoon.

If the dream could include having anything I wanted to drive; I guess I'd like to try a few laps in an Opened Wheeled F/1 Car. I don't care which Manufacturer.

Then, for nostalgia reasons; my old MGB after I got done Race Prepping it back in 1975.

But for the sheer fun of it I want to go with two wheels and break my wrist on the slight uphill grade of The Glen's main straightaway, all geared-up, slightly stoned and with this baby ... right here ... between my surgically repaired left knee and the aching right one.

Sweeeet idea, Rick. I live about a half hour from the track. Was there for the last two GP's (78 and 79 or 77 and 78? It's a bit murky that far back in my memory.....). I'd push for that dream!

Well ... its not officially my Birthday, yet! But, it's closing in on me fast.

I love Watkins Glen. I was there for the Gran Prix of the United States back in '76 or '77 and got to meet Niki Lauda in person. This was after the accident that left him with the burn scar.

I managed to walk all the war around the track with a RCA-TK76 Television Camera filming the race from some of the dangerous turns. I signed my life away to do that. On the backside there was one turn that the Official would not let me near.

It's a drivers track, no question about it.
I'd even ride a GoKart around the place if they'd let me.
Something motorized and fast is all I'd ask.
Right during the peak of Fall Foliage would be a plus; too.

Hey, RICK! Just remembered. There's an organized ride...think it's called the "Pride Ride" for motorcycles. This is a big one. I don't do too much of that kind of thing, but there are a few hundred bikes, I'd say. The gal that works at my post office asked me to help out, but it's the weekend of my son's high school graduation. JUNE 28TH! Pretty close to your birthday.

Oh, yeah. My point? The ride ends up with a ride around the track!

I'll do a web search, or you can, for Pride Ride Elmira, NY or something like that if you're interested.....

I used to race a Bugeye Sprite in the early 80s across the North East and spent quite a few weekends a WG. I must admit that I liked Lime Rock a little bit better, maybe thats because I won one there and could never come close at WG.

I wish I could wave my magic wand and make your dream come true. I too would like to get out there on bike, even the one I have now.

    I wish I had known!
The 26th is a Thursday. The whole family is spread-out at their jobs.
We're celebrating the Big-Six-Oh, together ... Saturday night by going down to Foxwoods.

NOW I learn about the ride.
    Too late.
I have reservations in Connecticut to repay the Indians for the United States forcing them live on their reservations.

For the record though ... I'd rather ride a motorized 2-stroke scooter once around that track, than go play Craps and Slot Machines all night!

I'll still have some fun, though!

I'd like something that wouldn't get loose and over-steer. I'd like to shoot the apexes without drifting out of the line.

To be quick around a road course you need to be able to take the corners on a tight line and exit them cleanly without fishtailing or drifting out of the line.

Looks like a fun little Kart, though. I mean, if it was that or nothing ... let me get behind the wheel!~!!

OK Rick, it's not Watkin's Glen, but have you been to F1 Boston yet?
Indoor track is fun, but the outdoor one is a blast!
