    1. Did *ANY* XJ650G (1980) come with YICS?

    2. Was the YICS marked cover physically different than the non-YICS cover?

(Mine has a YICS cover and I'm wondering if someone just stuck it on my non-YICS bike.)

    Thanks,

    G2

    NO

    They are interchangeable.

Either that or the engines have been swapped. Is there a YICS port in the head?

New to the bike. Don't know what a YICS port looks like. It runs so I haven't gotten that deep into maintenance and tuning yet. 8)

I said head, but the passage is actually in the block I think. Passage runs across the rear of the block just below the head. There is a bolt at each end with a 12mm head and a copper washer that seals the passage. I'm sure someone with a picture will happen along.

You can also check the engine case, the flat spot just above the oil fill. The serial number there should match the serial number in the VIN.

I found a (sort of) picture. I don't have YICS, just the cover. I'll hit EBay for a non-YICS cover at some point.
