air cooled fins???

    i have an seca 550 and like any other xj it is air cooled, but i noticed that in random places inbetween the cooling fins are little pieces of rubber that are about the size of a half inch scuare, and i don't know if the bike is sopose to have these spacers of if the previous owner was experimenting with something and if it would affect the cooling of the engine in any way

    I think they are to lower engine vibration, but as on mine they are chucked in there any/everywhere and not only the sides, but in some of the gaps from the top. They don't seem to be harming anything, but I have no idea what they might be helping.

    They are factory parts and are for reducing engine vibrations/harmonics. They shouldn't have much (if any) effect on the cooling of your engine.
