I want to raise the effective gear ratio on my 750 Max and the easiest way would be increase tire / wheel diameter. the Max has a 3.00x16 rear wheel while my Seca 750 has a 2.15x18 rear wheel. Are there any of the XJ's that used a 3.00x17 or 3.00x18 wheel with the same spoke pattern and the same final drive and brake?

My first question would be: Why?

In raising the "effective gear ratio" you would raise it across the board.
Yes, this would give you higher speed for a given RPM but it also affects the ability for your bike to get off the line. It's been discussed to death here that these bikes live for the RPM range they are designed for. If its a higher top speed you look for, I don't think this package of chassis and running gear are real safe past what the bike is already designed for, if that.

I guess you'd have to start with why you need the extra speed to RPM ratio. I too thought it would be nice to change this when I first started riding this bike. My BMWs of the past would rocket down the road at 80 turning 4400 RPMs but these bikes are different. I've just gotten used to that hum and whine.

Thanks for your input, Buffalo, but let's just say I want to experiment with it. I'm a distance cruiser, not a drag racer. So, same question,

Are there any of the XJ's that used a 3.00x17 or 3.00x18 wheel with the same spoke pattern and the same final drive and brake?

    Thanks,
