Just went for a long ride over the weekend. The bike runs good allthough when I pull in the clutch to start slowing down the engine seems to take a while to idle down.Any thoughts?

is this only after the bike warms up ?

Could be running lean (which would cause the idle to increase as it warms).

or do you mean you are not getting much engine braking on decelleration ?

Yes it only seems to happen after bike has been ridden for a while.I thought the idle was set to high but when i turned the idle screw it wouldn't stay running.I set it back to where it was and it runs fine for a while. Also it is hard to start after I try to restart after a long ride.

carbs need to be synced, almost definitly. I had this problem,a nd that did away with it. See iof blipping the throttle to about 4-5K doesnt make it come back down... also running a little lean proabbly.

sounds carb related. just as a note though, I'd make sure you have slack in your throttle cable.

Yes lean on the air screws or sucking air ...
Spray with wd40 around the carb area ... if idle goes up ... or you see smoke out the pipe ... its sucking air. Else its lean ... BTW sometimes you can fiddle idle screw a bit and make it come down ... But most likely it be not idling when cold then.
    Cool.
    Srinath.
